im selling mine. yosh pipe black plastics awsome shape. stanless brake and clutch lines, new did gold chain, flush led turn lights. less than 3,000 miles right now. $9g takes it. im in fl.

Get a 954. its soo much sharper and looks gorgeous! I get compliments all the time on the 954.
I think the 1000 looks like a 600 cause its so small in size and almost has no presence.
I have heard that the 03 954 left overs (if u can find one) are going for about 8200.

well..around me you can get a 05 out the door for $9800...so an 04 leftover should be under $9000.00...not a penny over ...they are out there you just have to look.....

I don't own both, the 1000 is my friend's. Both bikes have lived here since day one and now have about 6k mi. each. I had a '03 600rr which is similar (ergonomically), and i've ridden the 1000rr.
The 1000rr is a sweet bike if you're into racing, looking at you're bike, or telling the friends how much horsepower the thing has.
Some things I don't like are. Plastic fuel tank instead of metal, Honda's fancy electronic steering damper, the "racier" riding position w/ higher pegs & lower bars, center-up exhaust, extended swingarm.
You can't dent you're tank on purpose but you can crack it on accident. I like controlling when my steering damper(Scotts) is stiff or not, I don't want a computer basing it on rpm and tranny speed. I think the racier riding position is uncomfortable, my 954 feels like a caddy compared to it. Center exhaust looks nice but you can't store more than a friggin manual under the back seat, also if you get slow stuff you can't put you're left foot in that storage spot if you want. I don't even think you could put your foot on a 12 bar ??? The 1000 will wheelie like there's no tomorrow, but the new swingarm doesn't help the cause.
Basically, I don't think the 1000rr is a good stunt bike. If you're gonna stunt it , don't bother with a really expensive new bike, you'll wreck it eventually anyway.
I will say that with a Two Bros. pipe the 1000 sounds awesome.
My CBR600RR motor blew in less than 2k miles. Could have been a lemon but my dealer said Honda specifically told them the problem was from starving the motor while on one wheel and they admitted to a design flaw. Don't know if this has anything to do with the 1000 design though.

verey true.
thats why i am trying to get rid of my 1000 and put this gsxr together i just love the feel of the gsxr on the back wheel going down 95 just passing up exits..

**** they should still be making 954s. id buy a 600 that looked like one. when i pick up my 954 shortly...itll be so over. i just cant decide on the color

My local dealer in Lawreceville GA , STILL has a couple of ne '03 red/black 954's in stock. benn sittin for over 2 years now. POOR little blade begging to be whellied.
