Stolen Bike From Another State..

Let's say that I want my bike to "dissapear", and I exedentaly left the title in the storage space in the seat. I call the insurance co. and get my $$ cause I'm a good guy and had my shiat insured. Now, the "thief" goes to another state and sells it. The new owner, could he get plates for it even though its hot in another state, and even though he has the title in hand?

Or would it come up stolen? And let's say the new owner has the title and paid for it, what could the cops do...

Both VINs and EINs are trackable from any state.

Re: Stolen Bike From Another State..

But short answer, no. That will not work. The cops will show up at your door the day the other guy tries to register it. Think logically and the answer is apparent. My advice is for you or your friend or whoever to be a man and stop trying to scheme your way out of your, his/her or whosever's responsibility. Cut your losses, learn a lesson and move on.

Get a shovel.....dig a big hole. Drive the bike with the title in storage area into the hole. fill in the hole, cover bike with dirt. It has just disappeared. Call insurance company, collect $$$$$. I'm just jokin.

Wouldn't it just be easier to sale your bike than to have it "dissapear"?

No, I dont plan on doin it. And i dont know anyone who is gonna do that. I was just wondering cause I hear alot of people have some dirty parts or steal a bike and buy a new legit frame from e-bay with a new VIN
