Whos seen a cky video?

Who here has seen a cky video or knows what cky is? I bet alot, and i bet your not a hardcore skater either are ya? I was watching the first cky vid tonight and it occured to me. I am not a skater, i can't skate for crap, but i'm sittin here watching cky and really liking it. And this is a skate video! I think cky appeals to so many people because they just have fun, they show alot of just ****ing around, alot of ****ing around on skateboards, and then like 5 good skating segments set to badass music. I think that those people who make stunt vids could learn something from this. While i love the hardcore stunting vids like siu3 i think having a fun, entertaining video with stunting in it made by stunters would bring us alot of attention from people who aren't hardcore motorcycle riders. It would appeal to more people as a funny, good video, instead of just a stunt motorcycle video. I'm not saying go out and copy cky or do the stupid stuff they do. But focusing on making a fun video with a little less riding might go over as a better seller and get more exposure to more people, cause not everyone is gonna want to sit down and watch 45min of pure riding.

I'm just kinda ranting here but its late and i was bored... so discuss. Drew stone get on it!

Re: Whos seen a cky video?

i know what your saying. EVERYBODY enjoys watching people do stupid stuff. I would definatly rather watch somone steal a porta-potty and leave it in somones front lawn, than watch somone cut 200 circles and do a 3mile long standup.

variety is the key to an entertaining *insert activity here* video.

in the skateboard world, CKY is loved by the noobs for appealing to young people who don't know what to do with their life, and hated by the core for selling out

That maybe true, but i'm not saying every vid needs to be like that. I'd say just a few. Leave the hardcore vids to individual riders like Darius, Tony D, PSF, but let someone make a vid thats god lot of riders in it for the segments and just a few people screwing off. And wether those hardcore skaters want to admit it or not, cky was a very successful idea, bam has made a nice living off of that stuff. And like i said, those who aren't hardcore skaters love it too.

Re: Whos seen a cky video?

Seen all of the vids from CKy, and they all kick ***. I can't skate to save my life, but watching some guys do some "jackass" type stuff mixed in with the action gets my attention anyday.

Example: Never lived near the desert/dunes and i've never owned a dune buggy/sandrail, but my favorite videos out right now are the Quicksand series. Awesome machines, lot's of naked ****, and lots of drunks doing what they do best. Come on, who doesn't like watching drunks???? And drunks with high powered machinery???? Even better!!!! :YEAH

Re: Whos seen a cky video?

go watch fiddy nuts. Even if your not a big fiddy rider they have alot of funny **** in there and lots of naked chicks. I'm just sayin vids like that i can watch over and over and laugh my *** off. I loved the riding in siu3 but i liked siu2 cause it had better extras. My fav is digidy and the walkman from back the the future. I laughed my *** off at that part!

Re: Whos seen a cky video?

that's not a skate video...pretty far from it. it would be like saying that the Bam shows on MTV are skate shows.
CKY, it plain kicks ***.

Re: Whos seen a cky video?

How would you say its "NOT" a skate video. It was made by skaters and features a number for 3-5min segments of skating set to music same as all stunt vids feature a number of 3-5min segments of riding set to music. Only difference is that cky features entertaining non-skating stuff between the skating. Its a skate vid, its just not a hardcore, skate only vid.

jesus, i'm talking the group/skate vids not the band. Who gives a **** about system of a down. Were talking about improving stunt vids and making them more appealing here. Thats why i brought up fiddy nuts.

I totally know what you're saying. Alot of the stuff i remember from the vids are the stupid little moments of pure entertainment when guys do what they do best while not riding, screw around. Like in judgement day about the only thing i remember off the top of my head from that vid is the clip of the guy attatching the electrodes from one of tose tens units to his face and trying to talk. CKY rules. And i don't care if vids get popular sell alot and hardcore people start calling it selling out. It brings more money into the business. I think a few vids with funny clips between stunt sessions is a good idea. two thumbs up jonny lol.

Fear not friend Jonny for I have arrived!! Acually I'm leaning over to the other side of the desk from the other computer where I'm editing Urban Three & the Tony D Freestyle Film. I need a break for a min soooooo....

I've seen the CKY and the Jackass stuff and think it's real funny but think about this.... You fall on a skateboard you get scraped up maybe break a bone. You go down on a bike and you are going to get real hurt maybe get killed. It's a lot more serious and deadly bisiness. The stakes are up MUCH higher when I'm out on a highway being chased by the cops where one wrong move could mean jail or serious injury then when I'm shooting some skateboarders grinding a rail downtown somewhere.

Part of the reason that our films have been some what successful is becouse they are edited in a Music Video style. Before I started doing extreme sports films I had a career doing Music videos. I know I can't sit and watch "Pure Riding" for an hour so I try to tell an individual story as well within a 5 min segment.

Although people love my films becouse of the lifestyle stuff that comes across IT'S ALL ABOUT THE RIDING!!! . Too much lifestyle or jackass stuff kills a film after awile (Believe me I know I'm sitting here editing right now) After awile you say to yourself "Where Is The Beef"?

"Don't Forget the Struggle, Don't Forget the Streets" Urban Street-Bike Warriors Three is an amazing film and will dissapoint none. If you like the first Two films (Urban & Black Sheep) then I got you covered.

Thanx for the support

Re: Whos seen a cky video?

I wouldnt consider cky a skate video either. It was made by 1 skater. The cky crew is Bam, Dunn, Raab, Brandon, and Rake. Only Bam is a skater and there is alot more footage of ****in around rather then skating. And for everyone that has cky4 if you want the real special ****, click on the bonus features on the main menu and when it comes up hit right, right, left, right and hidden bonus' will come up.

I understand what you guys are saying. And I agree! I do consider cky a video from a skate crew, but not necessarily a SKATE VIDEO! I just think about how after watching siu 2 it was very entertaining and still is to go back and watch the extras which have some funny stuff in em. Same with street session. Fiddy Nuts is one of my fav vids for the stuff they've got too. I love the riding these guys do, i mean they are my idols. The people I look up to, to show me new tricks that I can go bust my *** trying to learn. But not everyone is looking for new tricks to be amazed by or learn. Some people are just watching for the hell of it. So you need all that fancy riding in there but you don't want it to get old either. I think the thing is you need BALANCE, and that’s the hardest thing to achieve. You need the right balance between hardcore riding and other stuff between it to keep it a stunt vid, but at the same time make it more than watching someone do circles for 3hrs. And Mr. Stone you can't tell me that all of us streetbike riders are so hardcore that we can't have fun. One of the guys in our group used to make it his business to get chased at least once a day. But we still have plenty of fun when we aren't running from the boys in blue. Being in a lot or just messing around in the garage. I don't think I have seen a single vid yet that is nothing but streetriding, so there are downtimes where a funny moment will fit in between all the running from the .

I must say that when i order a vid some of the things i pay attention to are the extras it shows in the trailer. I got siu 3, because i liked siu2 and the trailer looked like it would be good. It didn't disappoint because it has some of the best riding I’ve seen and I’ve probably watched it a good 10times by now. But there were disappointing things. I expected more extras like siu2 had. Darius had even posted saying some of the same things as me "riding can get old, you got to throw extra stuff in there to keep it interesting." He said he was gonna have the 240 in their along with the ducati cart neither of which i noticed. I just preordered "rock the 40oz" the other day. I'm expecting some great riding in it. But from the trailer it also show alot of extra stuff i'm hoping fun. It this stuntrider lifestyle that i live that i think is great and i want to see in vids. I know i've got some great stories and times i've had with all my riding buddies both on and off bikes. Its these kind of stories from other peoples lives that i'm wanting to see along with the riding.

This is all just my but its the way i feel

Re: Whos seen a cky video?

The CKY movies are made by Bam & his non skating crew. I've got 1-3.... They kick ***!!!!! But the movies are named from the band....Bams brother is the drummer. Bam's little way to promote the band.
Anyway, I don't concider them to be skate videos either. I use to skate for 7 years...Seen just about all the vids there are.. CKY vids are older than the Jackass shows. I think Bam used these vids to pitch the Jackass idea to MTV.

hey way to take us off topic. We already decided its not a true skate vid. But it still features skating. Like i said if it had more balance of skating instead of so much jackass stuff it would be considered more of a skate vid. My point was that the extra stuff asides skating makes it more interesting to both skaters and non skaters.

Re: Whos seen a cky video?

Already in progress, all my friends (half of which don't ride) and I are in the production of "Whiskey Business." So far the only person to make a really entertaining video with stunt riding and crazy sh*t is CBO, and I give him mad props for doing so.
