Lightbulb Yamaha R1 or Suzuki GSX-R1000

I'm new, so could someone tell me which is a better stunt bike and which has faster acceleration. Thanks!

Depends on the year. In general, the gixxer is more solid and can take more of a beating than a yamaha. Acceleration...they are both so damn fast I don't think you'd notice a defference. I'd go with the gixxer.

When you say it takes more of a beating how much more do you mean?

I was going to buy either a yam or gixxer and I talked to a few techs and guys that have ridden them and they said that the yam was a great bike, but onece it goes down it really doesn't ever ride the same. Leaks, shakes, etc. I've been down on my gixxer and I picked it right back up and it's still just like new.

Your most solid bike will be your honda. But it's a little bit heavier bike and not quite the acceleration. Depends on the year,

Re: Yamaha R1 or Suzuki GSX-R1000

the r1 can take a beating trust me. i have no complaints with my r1. its just not as good in slow wheelies as other bikes. but i make do. who cares about acceleration gear the thing and u can have as much acceleration as u want. but not as much top speed of course but in stunt who cares about top speed right?

Re: Yamaha R1 or Suzuki GSX-R1000

Seriously, all sportbikes today are fast enough for any street situation. On the other hand, you'll never hear me complain that a bike I ride has too much power, but I can't imagine you're going to need more for any riding you'll do. Especially if you're new. Unless it's all straight line driving, there's only so much power the tires can take in a lean. My back tire sometimes spins while I'm trying to make quick corners; under part throttle sometimes, and it's at least a second slower than any current liter bike. M1s are better than Dunlop 208s btw. Much better cold weather grip

Re: Yamaha R1 or Suzuki GSX-R1000

Thanks! Alot of great answers, but I notice that if you own the bike then you're going to want it to be better then other bikes. Personaly I think an R1 is a better looking bike then a gixxer but its performance first.

I'm not a stunter - I have an '03 R1 with a Full Akrapovic on it and the thing is a rocket.

I want to sell it and get a 600 though.

Re: Yamaha R1 or Suzuki GSX-R1000

the acceleration/power difference between the gix1k and the r1 will be hard to notice. the reliability difference between the two will probably be negligible as well. now if you talk about stunting, i cant give you too much information because although ive ridden both, i never stunted either one. from what i gather, the gixxer would be a better stunt bike. if it was my choice, id get a honda(not the 1kRR) first, either a 929 or 954. the power difference between the 929/954 and a new gix1k/r1/cbr1k will be more significant, but really not too noticable on the street.

Re: Yamaha R1 or Suzuki GSX-R1000

buy a honda

if not then go wtih the gixxer.

I stunt a 900RR used to have a gixxer, still have an R1 just for riding around..and I wouldn't even think of stunting it.

Re: Yamaha R1 or Suzuki GSX-R1000

R1= track bike, gixxer= stunt bike

The r1 is gonna all around out perform the gixxer on the track, but the gixxer makes a better stunt bike, depends on what you want it for, gixxer is a bit more bulkier and weighs a tad more to me it feels more stable and yeah if you drop it it will probably ride again, the r1 has got a front end that almost doesn't exist so pulling it up for a wheelie is simple but i'd never really do more than the occassional crusing wheelie on my r1, if you want street performance go with the r1 if you want to stunt the hell out of something go with the gixxer

That's what I was going to say..........I noticed you have a EX500 from your profile...........a step up to a 600 sportbike is almost twice the performance that 500 has. Going straight to a liter bike isn't the wisest decision in my opinion. My (Not even performance) YZF600R keeps up with the big boys in everything I do. It's rider skills just as much as bike performance......although it isn't a completely bad thing to twist the throttle and have the front end come up, but with that comes responsibility

Your R6 is a 95 and they change the ****in' YZFs almost every year.

The new ZX-10 has me interested as well. Will it keep up with the big boys? (Stunt wize)
