I owned a 2003 636 and the fastest it will go stock is 179... I never had it that fast but my buddy claims he did... so it may be possible but I doubt it for go it every 10mph faster you it requires an extra 20+ hp... so maybe... or maybe not... a 750 will go 185 I do know that but mine is not even close to being stock...

Re: last post contest

also if the spockets have been changed that will effect the speedo it makes it 10mph faster than it really is plus there are reports that all bikes are 5 mph slower than what the speedo say so he could have gone 150 and the speedo was maxing out...

Re: last post contest

plus on bikes wind varience will change your speedo so the more wind you encounter the slower you go but the speedo won't show that either

Re: last post contest

about the speed thing. there was an article in some bike mag last year about the accuracy of the speedo's in vehicles in general. I think that the big 3 Japanese companies were way off, like 20% off at 120MPH, so it was indicating 140ish. IT's a safety thing from the way they explained it...about people thinking they're going a lot faster than they were really. A stock CBR1000RR (I had one) would max at like 170ish but my speedo read 193 once at the top of sixth gear. I'm not saying that anyone's bike is slow here because I don't want to get in a pissing contest, but unless the speed is read with an actual speed testing device, it's probably way off, even compared to a car because those are wrong too.

I agree. Japanese Auto companies also got their hand slapped for lieing about their horsepower #'s too. Wonder if they ever strech the truth with their bikes?

Re: last post contest

Looks like it's going to be a chill night. I think I am going to return some cans and bottles, use the money to buy a case of longnecks, and chill in my garage. Going to clean all my **** up, change my rear sprocket, put my 12 bar on, take some pictures of my 72 nova so i can sell it on e-bay. I need a heater for that ***** though.
