Yeah, it's pretty phukt....
Yeah, it's pretty phukt....
Ok, I'm back.
Things didn't go exactly according to plan, here's a brief summary;
Practice - No dramas, dust and **** everywhere, no rubber on the circuit, The Business ***** himself going through Turn 8 for the first time.
Qualifying - Got a huge cheer from the crowd for setting the brakes on fire. It was mad, I saw the replay on one of the big screens as I was going around, the ol' Camry looks good with flames spewing out of the front wheels. Outqualified Leanne Ferrier in the factory Toyota Corolla by quite a few seconds, so I assume they were having problems. Set pole in my Class, which was only two cars by 8 seconds. I could have done a high 1:43, but didn't, 'coz every other **** was foxing; I didn't fox enough!

Race 1 - Got a good start before I found Neutral, then it got stuck in second gear; I invented some new swear words, took both hands off the wheel and ****en yanked on the stick until it came out of gear. I ended up having 2nd and 3rd and no top gear (lost shitloads of time down the straight), so I caught back up and won the class (like, yay - 1 other car) but I KNOW that we could have been taken the lead of the race. Very dissapointing, but at least I beat Ferrier home.

Race 2 - We bodgied up the gearbox (selector fork was ****ed) and it was hanging in there okay. I was up to 3rd, the Safety Car came out on Lap 2 when some talentless ****** in an FTO stuck it in the fence, and at the restart my engine had no ***** whatsoever - the two little Proton GTi's pulled away like they had V8's in them, so I knew it was going to be terminal. I made it thru the first part of the course, but then fukken BANG - dropped a valve, punched a 4 inch hole in the bottom of the crankcase and promptly emptied the contents of my sump all over the track. If I had finished, I would have won the class by a country mile, and I reckon an outright Top 3 would definately have been possible, maybe even a win... but we'll never know!

Looks like I'm out of a drive - car owner not interested in spending another $8000+ per race meeting when he's not driving. I'm desperately sucking **** and pimping myself trying to get the $4K I need to displace another driver from another car in another class; there's still a strong chance I'll drive for the team even if I don't raise the cash - they want someone who can win in the car; not just produce hype - that's all the driver in question has done so far.
So, fingers crossed. I'm gonna try pretty hard!

Coverage is @ 4:30pm, Saturday 27th March 2004 on SBS's Speedweek.
I have the times for Foxtel too, if you miss that one and still want to see me blow up my engine in front of the whole field.
