Thanks for the link... good stuff.. But at least here in the states going by what the book says and what you actually get for a bike in a privite sale usualy doesnt match up. Plus theres no pricing on without being able to register the bike and using as a lot bike only.. Im looking for real life pricing on what you guys can get these bikes for and what youll pay.

Anyone know of any other sites for Australian stunt riding and or bike buying that may be more informative? any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: USA Bikes, quads, dirtbikes.. you AU guys want?

a year ago i sold a 2000 model r1 in good condition for $7000, i was happy with 7 but i could have got 8

i then bought a immaculate gsxr750 2003 4000klms for $10,000 which was priced about right, i would have paid another $500.

Thanks Munkey.. exactly what i was looking for. Do you ride these bikes in parking lots only or do you have them registered? We could def get the bikes here alot cheaper no doubt.. Any idea on what guys are paying for lot bikes only.. and track bikes only?

Of course taking the rego into consideration and whether or not the bike could be registered for street use we could get a 1000cc bike (gsxr, cbr,zx, etc) to AU. for ruffly $16500 aud shipped brand new. (this would be if i went to the dealer and bought the bike new myself then shipped it out)

Used would of course be cheaper and the way to go for lot bikes/track bikes unless you got money like that.

Re: USA Bikes, quads, dirtbikes.. you AU guys want?

lets say the gixer the gixer is road rego'd which its supposed to be, the insurance that you must have to get rego costs me about $650 and the rego fees is about $200 i think.. so to keep the bike on the road for a year will cost me $850, which would be a very long week at work for me. its hard to remember because i never renew my rego because its a fcukin rip off and pisses me off!

and when you buy a bike the rta (roads dept) take $30 off you for every $1000 you pay for the bike, so if you pay $10,000 for a bike you have to give them maggots $360.

the r1 is a track/stunt bike only, to use for this purpose only, i wouldnt want to pay anymore than $5000. it has no road gear on it.

farrrk thats a good deal !

they gave you the bike !

and they will give the the bike away and not make a dollar just to get the number and to get you to bring it back so they can make money on the servicing.

a new r1 down the road is 19,500 plus on roads and dd

$2500 aud off is def. very impressive.. nice buy!!. I imagine they don't have any left. Or that everyone on here couldn't go buy one for that price because they either would'nt honor it or they are out of them (I've worked in a dealer for years and know how it works very well) Dealers will sell there inventory for cost just to clear it out before they start getting hit with flooring cost (finance charges which hit after 60 days floored if im correct) or the manufacture (suzuki in this case) will offer the dealer a rebate allowing them to sell the bikes at or under cost and still make money. this is rare and dealers try VERY hard to stay away from having to do it.

Even if Dealers in AU could sell the 1000's for that discount all the time I could still buy one here, ship it to you guys and have you save about $3300 off retail all the time! for everyone!....... the only issue would be rego and theres probauly ways around it (lets hope). Now of course if it was to be a track bike (race bike only) or lot bike that would make it no issue at all!! I would just need to take off the mirrors, signals, guages, and maybe headlight and ship those parts seperate (to make it look like a race bike for customs.) Same goes for used bikes...

Anyone interested send me an email...

Re: USA Bikes, quads, dirtbikes.. you AU guys want?

I got a mate going over to work for about 10mths and he wants to buy a bike when he gets there and bring it back when he's done.
Have heard a few different theories:
One is that if you owned it for 12mths its all good
2nd is if you break it down into parts then its all good
third is if its not registerable (and 2nd hand)

Cna anyone comment in this?
