Greeny's Blade off the road.

Go to start the bike this morning and it wont start. battery is a bit low, strange its a new battery. Ehh bump started it and it ran fine.

Out having a practise and the bike start to miss, stutter and backfire then it just dies.
Go to restart can't
Bump start it runs for a second then it dies.

After pushing the thing about 5 KM home, lucky most was downhill, i discover that the new voltage rectifiier/regulator i bought a week ago has a nice big crack in it. My new battery is pissing acid everywhere and to top it all off i blew i headlight globe.

My question is.
Did i just get unlucky and buy a dodgy pice of **** voltage regulator or does my bike have issues else where.

Note. When i fitted the new regulator i ran the bike and tested that it was working and all the voltages the battery was getting was as it should be and stayed like that though out the rev range.

Thoughts
Cheers

My Blade **** the regulator as well, not quite as dramatically as yours though! Think it's one of those things that Blades do, ask Stooge, think he had issues too.

Re: Greeny's Blade off the road. But wait theres more.

But wait theres more.

Today I go to take my other bike out for a ride and notice only one bike key on the hook.
Strange there should be two.
Anyway after about 15minutes of searching I find the key to the Blade in the bottom of the washing machine. Sweet. But then i notice the key is a bit shorter than it should be. Hang on a tic its about half the size.

Yep somehow while the key was in the washer its snapped in half.
Great looks like its off to the locksmith for me._ after i pull the ingition barrel out of the bike.

Then while checking some votages on the Blade I smell fuel and see a small pool of fuel on the floor.
Look a bit closer and yep fuel is leaking from the tap.

Long story short need to buy a new filter sleave thing that goes in the tank(another $35) and see if a new o ring will stop the leak.

So the blade is gonna be off the road for a few more days.
Starting to get frustrated the bike spends more time in bits than being riden at the moment.

Mate, its all good. The best thing to do is work on your bike, get to know it real well. When I bought mine in Sydney, My cousin and I took a few days to put it together. Uncle also is putting hes bike together. Best thing, get to know your bike, and in your case, you are

Re: Greeny's Blade off the road.

UPDATE,

Got the new intank filter tube thingy today and ended up having to get a new fuel tap. Get it all home hook up the new battery and Voltage Reg. Get the tank on and the bike fires up no worries.
The headlight is working, go to test the blinkers left side fine. Right side nothing.
So I then strip the switch block back to nothing clean it all up. still no rRHS blinkers. Go see ****** first thing he says, did you check the globes.
I think back i was making a right turn when the bike cut out.

Get home Yep the **** was right both bulbs blown.
easy fix.

You guys are right i am getting to know my bike, better than i really want to but its all good.

Guess i should learn to cheak the sinple stuff first hey.

Re: Greeny's Blade off the road.

Yes, always check the simple stuff, unless you ride an R1, then you know, if its a blinker bulb busted, the farker still needs an engine rebuild! lol

Re: Greeny's Blade off the road.

But if you can rebuild an R1 into a decent bike, then you have truly conquered.
cos you obviously learned how to turn a Yamaha into a Suzuki, or a Honda.
