Victorian Freestyle Championships

Hey Peeps, Have not been around for a while but I'm close to being back on the road :YEAH ............................... I think that Chicks Dig Scars DVD fired me up.

This year will be the first year of the Victorian Freestyle Championships. It will be run in conjunction with the Victorian Interclub Road Race Series at Broadford and Winton race tracks. At this stage there are only four rounds, but I have plans underway with the people from Heathcote dragstrip for a couple more. Each Round will be split in two stages.

Stage one: Is a 4 min round for each competitor to impress the spectators and judges. A panel of 3 judges will score each rider for the following:

Stage one: Routine, Execution, Entertainment, Skill Level & Variety.

Stage two: Longest endo (4 attempts), Best Trick (3 attempts), Slowest Wheelie (2 attempts) and Best burnout to finish off (1 attempt)

At present I have approximately some 15-20 riders but am willing to take more. The Rounds at Broadford or Winton will cost each competitor $45, 100% of this fee is for insurance. At these rounds each rider will have 2 hours track time to practice and perform in comp. I am yet to finalise the fee for Heathcote but there will be almost a days worth of track time availiable so the format of the comp will change to suit. If anyone is intrested in competeing or would simply like to spectate, you can contact me at freestyle-rider@hotmail.com for competition rules, scoring, dates etc.

Stay safe fellas and remember shiny side VERTICLE!

No worries Daniel, If you guys are prepared to do a road trip, It would be best to come to one of the Heathcote events. I will be holding these events on a Sat with 7 hrs track time, that way we all can also get on the **** properly Sat night . If anyone is interested in coming down (or up Stooge) to Vic for a road trip start writing your names down in this thread, as I will need to know to work out how much to charge per head. For these events I am expecting more riders as it will be a competition/stunt ride day. I think I can safely say that it will not cost any more than $80 per rider, but I'm still working things out with the track owner in the $$$ department. I'm also talking to people from Calder park (Thunderdome) and hope to have a event there later in the year. This one would be fully advertised and a must for you guys too I imagine.

If you all get together and work out when you would be able to come down, I can work around you guys and book the track to suit. Anytime 7 weeks and on works for me.

I'm lookin forward to this one already!

p.s. ~ F#cken top job with the DVD again mate, well done.

Hey Boxer, haha
I called Heathcote and organised these events a couple of months ago, I also landed their Drag days at the same time for up to 4 riders at $200 each for Luke Ben Pete and Myself. I have a few other irons in the fire that I will keep you guys posted about aswell.

Good **** dude. I'm surprised you guys hadn't harrased Russel and Joanne sooner. They offered us (Cunningstunts) and show to do early last year, but it was on the same day as a burnout comp we were already booked into up here.

I'll let the boys from www.fullboost.com.au know. Hopefully they'll bump into you a bit!

Aye buddy , you stay on your side of the border and I'll stay on mine, this is our turf!

Yeah I probably should have from the start, I called them when Motorcycling Victoria cancelled a show/comp with 18 hrs notice so I decided to look else where. I was really happy calling Alan Morrison to tell him to mayby mow the laws at home instead . Now Motorcycling Victoria and I are about to have a meeting, think they have safety concerns along with some bureaucratic nonsense too no doubt, but the main thing is it's back on. Having it split is probably for the better as it turns out, it's about the sport at the end of the day and it's now a little bigger for their f@ckup. At the meeting we will be discussing a stunt licence, Initially they wanted (and still may) ask us to wear full leathers. I'm fairly confident that a jacket with spine protection, knee gaurds, motorcross pants or draggon jeans, leather gloves, boots that cover the ankle and a helmet of course will be enough. This way we will be able to ride at any MA sanctioned event for less $$. The licence will be allot cheaper than a race licence too. That would be cool if you could let em know,

Cheers Boxer

Cheers bro, will do and right back at ya. I was thinking about a petition from all the fella's who are against the idea of compulsory leathers actually. I can't speak for everyone of course but everyone down here including Alan who is the only one who actually wear's them agrees that they are too restrictive for certain tricks. In our sport I think we should only really be concerned with heavy or awkward falls, so the necessity for impact protection is very important. We are not doing warp factor five like the race guys, my argument is that leathers are really for high speed slides, of course abrasions or road rash is something we can do without, but the chicks dig it, right? Not that it would be bad anyway, Dragon jeans or motor cross pants are not perfect but hey, motorcross/enduro guys don’t have to wear em, nor should we. My before mentioned safety list I feel is more than adequate. I will see how things pan out but I'm thinking it might be good to go to this meeting armed with signatures. I just convinced myself~ Think I may start a new thread about this.

There you go Boxer, it didn't take me long to ask did it.

Re: Victorian Freestyle Championships

I think a simple demonstration of how difficult it would be to move all around the bike in leathers on video could be put together too. Maybe Mike or Wazza could whip something up?
