Holy *****! Ned, I haven't seen a thread from you in donkies mate. Very nice, that looks like a seriously fun toy! At least your Friday arvo was better than mine. I had to visit my grandmother, you wouldn't want to ride her!

98 model
lol, the bars were a $30 job cos I somehow knew they wouldn't last
They are pretty bent after 2 rides!!
I am thinkin bout turnin it into a motard, cant afford to do much atm, but wawnt to at least get it cleaned up, maybe buy some road rims from a wreckers and dual halogen headlights, new plastics, etc.
But for now, only stuff that doesn't cost much will be done

Turned my last one motard, used RGV 250 wheels, got both wheels for $500 with rear disc ,sprocket , sprock carrier and tyres, hard to beat. let me know if you would like details as this guy has heaps of wrecked RGV's. also still have all meaurments for spacers etc.

Re: Friday arvo relaxing

Hey Steve, forgot to mention in PM , dont know if you are aware or not but this might save you some heart ach. The choke butterfly can literally choke your bike . They have a tendency to break off either side of the spring loaded stainless steel flap and the cast aluminium section gets sucked into the combustion chamber. It happenened to my first XR 6 @ about 70,000km , Took me a while to work out where these foriegn bits of metal actually came from that were sitting on my piston. Hows this for stupid, on my last XR 6 Motard i remembered it but the bike only had 5,000 km ,was keen for a ride and thought ''no hurry, she''ll be right'' but no, was kickin myself. Any way ,SOLUTION- just unscrew & chuck..my bikes still started fine without on cold mornings.. While i'm at it, other common problems, the auto de-comp pin in head can get stuck and you will not have any compression SOLUTION- just pull the cam shaft out and have the auto decomp cam pressed off & pull the spring loaded pin out of head. The bike will start easier as well, just use the manual de-comp just past TDC and kick, couriered on them so was kickin them alll day every day. If you have second gear trouble Honda have a special kit that consists of a second gear with 3 large dogs meshing with sixth gear on countershaft instead of 5 smaller ones & a slightly modified L/H selector fork.
