Re: 12ing the R1

Apart from selling the R1 and buying a decent bike

Better look in the Stuntlife main forums for posts....

Re: 12ing the R1

hey bro... i had the exact same problem with my 2000 r1.....the only solution that i have come by is this...

first take off the hose that goes from the motor to the air box and make sure that u plug off the open hole which the absent hose leaves..(the big one at the back) get some same size hose....about 3-6 ft(but u can use as much as u want)...also get a piece of 2 inch diameter abs pipe (i used about 4-6 inches)and 2 caps...also 2 fittings with a barbed end on one side and threaded on the other....(i used 3/8 fitting) make a cylinder with the pieces and put the fittings in the middle of the caps...(drill a hole in the middle caps seal it with something that is oil resistant) run the hose that u got from the back of the motor to cylinder that u made...and on the other end of the cylinder run a long piece of hose towards the steering head along the side of the air box, around the air box then back down towards the tail...end the hose somewhere that i wont leak oil on any vital parts....

this will not stop the oil from going out of the motor but it will stop it from going into the air box and hydraulically locking the motor..(has happend to me and it sucks a$$) the oil will have to fill the hose and the extra chamber that u built..then when u set the bike down it will run back down the hose into the motor...

P.S. keep rippin the R1....we need more yamahas out there....some how a few obsolete manufacturers aka suzuki and honda have made a name for themselves in the stunt world ....lol yamaha kicks a$$ lol

if u have any more questions just personal message me....ive probably gone threw all that problems that u are having...later

Re: 12ing the R1

i like the bike, not everyone is so into stunting. i do on average 60,000kms a year on my bike and its not all on the back wheel dude i just like riding, the r1's got a s*** load of power and as far as im concerned is easy to ride. what im saying is every man and his dog thinks that you have to be on a fireblade to do a wheelie, like i said i like my bike

Re: 12ing the R1

No worries mate. If i was commuting id ride the wheezy too! Honda's feel like your sitting on a fence, no good for distance! By far the r1 is the best all round bike in my eyes, as for lukey luke, he's just a internet stunner! Although i will say his chin feels great on my american, "Ball bag!"
