How are the cr85's?
I'm looking to get either a quad or a bike, but i'm leaning towards a bike.
I dont have a huge amount of property (1 acre), but i have a 4-5 acre field behind my house, and i have a trailer that we use for snowmobiles.
Now i'm going to cut to the chase..
How are the cr85's? I know since its a 2stroke its going to be high matenence and i would have to replace the top end a lot.
Is there a good 4stroke bike? I'm leaning towards a crf150/crf230, but they are VERY expensive and out of my budget range. And i cant find many used 150's or 230's. But there are multiple useds 85's out there.
So help me out here, what bike would you reccomend for me? I'm 15 about 5'8'' and 135 lbs. I have a whole lot of expierence with quads, but not much dirtbikes. I mean the only expierence i had with a dirtbike is my fiddy, and a xr80, and that isnt going to help a lot for a big bike.
Thanks a lot!

Re: How are the cr85's?
you won't have to replace the top end that often. when i was younger and raced 80's i only replaced the top end once a year.....way cheaper than the maintainence on a 4 stroke....especially if that motor goes out.
and, this kid is asking about an 85, so i would assume he's not very big since he's 15. plus it sounds like his first big bike, a racing 125 or 250 would be too much to start out on and is a lot taller than those 85's.
crf150 won't even come close to touching an 85 in the power department. also the suspension is 10 times better on that 85, along with teh brakes being better too.
the 85 isn't made to be playing ina field putting around though, it's made to be run wide open adn high rpm......for trails and fun around your house, the 4 stroke is the way to go.

Re: How are the cr85's?
if hes 5'8" 135 hes almost to big for an 85 allready and he will grow more ne ways, i agree if u only have a small area to puts areound in your gonna foul plugs all day long, its a race bike not a trail bike so id go witha 4 stroke, xr 200 i dunno......

If u dont want to do big jumps and go high speeds id say go for the 230. Ur neighbors wont get as pissed and they are still fun. Dont talk to him about bikes being to small he owns a fiffty lol. If u did want a two stroke id say yz 125 had iit and its fun.

Re: How are the cr85's?
Ever get the bike? If not, outta the 3 choices (in order) I'd say get the YZ125 followed by the CR125. Dont get that bullshit 230f. Weak ****. A 125 just reminds me of a big 80. If it was me I'd go with the CR250 or YZ250. When I was 15 (about 5'10 125#) I used to kill it on my CR250. Seemed way fast at 1st, but I got used to it quick. Made 125s seem weak (like a big 80!!). Also like youre takin about, I mostly rode in feilds, gavel pits and trails n ****. The 2stroke works just fine, lots of power I've only been to a track only a couple times, so dont listen to that BS about 2strokes are only good at the track.
Now get out there and rip **** up!!
