got my 2000 cr 125 last night
i went and picked up my cr 125 last night. It's a 2000. Im trying to get back into the dirt scene after 6 years of no racing. Hopefully i can get back into it. Unfortunately since it's been so long i'm just now trying to remember everything.
anyone have tips on this year cr125 or anything i should watch out for on it?

good hint for anyone learning how to ride or get back in it is go to the local dealer and buy 2 extra sets of levers and coulpe tubes and make sure the bike is reliable nothing ruins a day with a broken lever

ya, or you just run the lever perches a little loose, not moving around, but don't crank down on them so if you go down hard it'll just move on the bar verses breaking your lever.

Congrats dude! I had the 99' CR125 and my only complaint was the 5 gear tranny. Does the 00' have 6 or 5?
As for tips... well... never seemed to have any problems with mine. And if you used to race, I'm sure you know your ****. Have fun with it.

not to be a ******* or nethin but the cr125s suck. Ive had 3 of them 00, 01, 02 and they are pretty slow. My suggestions are vforce reeds, fmf factory fatty pipe with the power core 2 silencer, get that thing bored to a 134(it will still be legal to race in the 125 class) and then youll have a pretty fast bike

but i will agree that the motors aren't as strong as some of the newer bikes from 01 on, but i've never noticed that on the 00's. If this was an 01 i probably would have just stayed with the yz, but it gets up and goes pretty good and it'll probably do it longer than that yz will.
and yes, it's a 5 speed tranny which is weird to get used to, but the taller gears on it will keep the tranny from wearing out so fast....again, reliability is what i was leaning for on this. I hate fixing things, especially when you have 4 bikes you are working on....one more thing to go wrong just sucks.

Your Honda aint gonna be any more reliable than that yamie. Long run it depends on how you mix gas and stuff. The only problem (and big one) on yamies is they melt cranks. Id take a kx over any because of te 6 spd tranny.

eh, last year that i liked the kawi's was 96. Some of the guys i ride with that race B class have some kaw 250 four stroke's. chris was rebuilding his top end on it last week so he couldn't come out and ride, but this week he'll have his practice bike done so i'll jump on it and try it out. i kinda like my 5 speed cause the taller gearing. most of the stuff we ride is really tight so there isn't a whole lot of shifting either way.
