Ok i got an 03 Yamaha PW80 and its sittin in my kitchen (because i havent had time to ride it) well anyways i take it outside and start it up occasionally to make sure it runs good becasue its sittin so long well anyways i take it out and start it up and keep it runnin for alittle bit and then i shut it off....then i look at the ground and theres a bigass puddle of gas so im like WTF its brand new so then i look under the engine and see that the little cable that has gas in it is pionting straight down to the ground and when its running it just drops all the gas down but it still runs, its a clean cut to, so i want to know if this is supposed to connect to something or did the dudes at the cycle shop do this on purpose?? im kinda new on the dirtbikes so i dunno if this is a stupid question. any help would be greatly appreaciated

Wouldnt start if fuel line aint connected. Sounds like your float level is to high. If you are tipping the bike over very far thats normal, but if its straight. then you have a problem.

 

I agree with 3 how is your bike going to run with the main fuel line off doubtful but iff you had enough gas in the carb it would run for a while but there is suposed to be a vent hose straight cut that runs off the carb to expell extra fuel from the float bowl on the carb if the fuel level is to high. good luck

 

he said it's brand new, if it slipped off there will still be a little gas in the carb enuff 4 it 2 start

 

yeh its brand new i havent even ran it that much never rode it etc etc.... but i was thinkin it was kinda weird since it still ran with that little hose dripping alot of gas out. and when i start it im holding it straight up,............its still got 0 miles on it and warrenty so i can always take it to the shop.

im gonna look at it more tomarrow tho and see whats up with it. thanks for all yout help guy's i appreciate it

 

i would also say that since the bikes been sitting so long the float may be stuck open - tap the carb with a hammer or beat the **** out of it and it should stop leaking

 

Hey Mike why do you have to be different, why couldn't you be like everyone else and get a fiddy? I would agree with Brian, corrosion prob built up, made the float sick and that is why it's draining. Maybe try and put some gas treatment in the take too. since you have too many toys, never play with them, and let the bike sit all the time. If you don't have time to ride it, then hook a brotha up. lol

 

its your float (they always **** it up at the shops 'round here) wack the carb a few times if that dosent fix it take it to the shop and dont leave until they fix it (its 'bout a 5-10 min job) or get out your manual and do it yourself.

 

Thanks to everyone who replied in my thread! all your guys's advice helped out! i just tweaked it a bit and now it runs fine, the gas sat for awhile because the guys at the shop said it was sitting there for a couple weeks with the same gas thats in it now and ive had it in my kitchen since christmas so yeh it was all klogged up but now its pretty good. it still leaks but thats because all of the dirty old gas is still in it. and fabes i love fiddys but everyone has one and i like the looks when i atke it outta my truck and ride it hehe all the other dude;s with the fiddy's give me dirty looks cuz i got a yamaha
