just got a kx80

hi everybody just wnat to ask a few questions about my newly aquired kx 80 frame. i paid a 100 bucks for all this i think it has every thing except the engine. how can i find the year of teh bike. it looks preety new but i need to know exact year so i can get an engine. th ekid i bought it off of was realy stupid to get rid of it for only 100.thanks in advance.

Thats what they looked liek from the 90s to 2002. In 2003 the repainted the frame, so you aint missing much. Ill give ya 150 for it

thanks is there sny way to tell the exact year from the vin.

did you check the headtube(where the sreering stem mounts on the frame)? the vin plate should be there and it will have the year and bike model... if the vin plate is missing the bike is probably hot!!!so watch out but if you realy must know... the vin should be stamped on the headtube call the local kawi shop and give them the vins and they can tell you what year and model....good luck

i got the vin so ill go to the dealer tomm any body got an engine.

Yea, but they havent made any maor changes in the 80 class. Kawasakis site can also give u the bike model.

i just went to teh kawi site and i put in the vin and they sai dit was a 1998 not bad sam year as my yz250 now all i need is a engine an ill be good. :YEAH

It would have told him. I think the only differance is that the frame is a little more stretched for taller riders. I think that they 100 frame is basically the old 80 frame, they changed the frame for the 80/85 class but left the 100 frame alone.

would the 100 engine fit my frame and were can i get bolts for it such as to mount gastank side panels engine so on.

I dont know, im thinking it would, if not it would only take a little cutting and welding to fix it.
