Re: starting a twostroke easer

There is only one trick that i know of. If you have a beast like a kx 500. You push the kick lever partialy down over and over untill you get the thing at top dead center. the lever will be all the way at the top and be solid there, witch will give you a fuller turn over of the engine and kick hard.

Clean your plugs and air box and filter OFTEN

If you crash and it wouln't start. It's flooded. Then kick it over with the throuttle pulled all the way back, untill it starts

Re: starting a twostroke easer

There is no trick to it. 2 strokes start easyer then 4 strokes period. you just have to get the feel of how the bike likes it... Again it is something that is part of just getting into the sport. Everyone was a NOOB at some point.

Re: starting a twostroke easer

he is just starting to get into bikes though, it's not the bike. he said the owner of the bike he looked at was able to start it without trouble.

Re: starting a twostroke easer

Just put your weight into it. Roger is right about the plugs too. Learn to keep some around.

In regards to the other part of your question, I'm guessing that you have never had the pleasure of a 4 stroke kicking back on you? If not you should try it sometime, feels great

Re: starting a twostroke easer

i would clean out the carb on any two stroke that sat for a while because one little peice of crap in there could toast the motor....

and to make a two stroke like new is a matter of how bad it is some just need rings and some need rings piston wrist pin and reed vavles but with out having it here to inspect i couldn't tell you what yours would need but a plug is cheap so start there...

and a cable oiler is a must for dirt bikes they are cheap like 5 or 6 bucks at the local dealership and a clean and lubed clutch cable will feel better then a dirty one

Parts should run you about 75-125 But labor at most shops is 50-75 buck an hour.

yeah 2 strokes are super easy to start, especially 80's and 125's (you can start these with your hands) a 250 is a touch harder. Yeah if you have very low compression your bike will have a hard time starting...also if you have an air leak somewhere or your reeds (if you have em) arnt sealing right your bike will be hard to start and run like crap in the lower RPM's
