Cr250....crf450?

Im in the marker for a brand new dirtbike. I will be using it mostly for trails and jumping and some stunting also...

Which would be best for me.

CRF450... or CR250

Re: Cr250....crf450?

Go with the 450, just as fast as 250 two strokes but have loads more usable torque for fun off the track

Re: Cr250....crf450?

Ive you got some money get the 450. Seperate oil for tranny and crank case means changing both every 5 hours, and it will be black. The motors also eat the oil. And after 2 hours of riding if you change out the valves it will last a wile, but that costs about 200$ for the valves.

Re: Cr250....crf450?

Thats not that bad. Just remember though, in the beging watch your vavle clearances alot and check your oil ammount in the crank case before every ride becuase the CRFs are notorious for burning oil. If you install some aftermarket valves they wont be that much of a hassel.

Re: Cr250....crf450?

Its probably 10 lbs heavier when they both have fluids. And its not the weight but where it is. All of the rotating mass higher up makes them handle differently.

Re: Cr250....crf450?

go with the 250 for the trails, I had a 450 and its too powerful to be racing through trees and trails, believe me you'll end up hittin one

Re: Cr250....crf450?

well i agree with the 250R i have a 99 CR250R and i dunno bout the "waaaaaay faster waaaaay more power" thing man cause it was all my boy could do to stay up with me...then again mine is modded to death. The 2 stroke will give you a lot less maint hassle than that clunky 4 stroker. They arent the same as the lil Fiddys and **** they eat valves and **** oil. Do yourself a favor and get the 250 the only thing thats diferent is the turbo like way the powervalve kicks in, hell thats actually kinds kool though. In the end go find someone with each bike and ask them if they would mind you riding to see which you would like......and no you cant ride mine j/k you can if you wanna but you wreck it you bought it
