Wheelie help...

ok heres the deal...ive tried puttin my foot on seat, or on grab bar to do a wheelie. i can do regular standups forever, and knee in seat forever. my problem is, that it feels so awkward when i try to stand on seat, or put my foot in grab bar. what are some tips? any pointers would help...gracias

Re: Wheelie help...

Hey man . Wheelies standing on the seat do feel goofy just cuz you have you end up sticking your *** up into the air (everyone does, just to reach the bars). The first like month I was doing the grab bar wheelies I felt embarassed on how I'd look. But how it feels and looks are two completely seperate things. By the sounds of it you can wheelie on the pegs and with your knees on the seat fine, but can't do them completely standing up? Next time you go out, forget how you look the first month of tricking is an akward stage that everyone has to get past. Just be confident. Put your feet in the grab bar, and do the kneel thing. Then stand up without bringing the quad into a wheelie. You should look really damn goofy right now . It doesn't matter... now just give it some gas and a swift jerk. Put the quad on the grab bar. Do this about 200 times slowly increasing your speed each time. The problem most people have the first 3 months is getting over the fear of crashing. By kneeling, then locking your legs, then standing up without wheelieing, this will help you bring the quad into the perfect balance point, once you bring it up. All that anyone can ever tell you is PRACTICE. The methods the cvboyz and some of the more advanced stunters used is a more relaxed ride, just because they have practiced so much we know how to fall if we screw up and it just starts to come natural. If you trick for a month and still haven't got it down perfect yet, you are like every other rider who tried tricking. It takes LOTS of seat time and LOTS of practice. Good luck

Re: Wheelie help...

thanks man...no i can do a standup wheelie, like with my feet on the pegs, standing up...for a good 1/4 mile atleast. and knee in the seat is no problem whatsoever...it just feels goofy as hell whenever i try to standup. ive been riding for about a year almost, and im barely getting standups lol. sitdowns still scare me, but theyre coming along. thanks for the info.

Re: Wheelie help...

I think with some practice you'll get it man.....Normally most people I know think a wheelie standing on the seat or grab bar is easier and have trouble learning sitting on the seat or standing on the pegs.

Just get a feel for where the balance point is, and you'll be set....it'll be a little different than when you are in the other positions...Keep your legs locked and stay smooth on the throttle. If you start to go past the balance point, just get your right foot down on the brake and you'll be set.

Keep at it bro.

Re: Wheelie help...

Seat stands still creep me out. No brake control=panic mode for me. I learned that a smooth throttle helps and when the front starts to drop... jump to a split to land back on the seat. I put my chest into the bars by staying on the seat when it came down... not recommended!

if ya walk them slow and the front starts to creep.. throw in a flamingo.. the weight movement pulls the front end back up .. my best point is to learn first gear creeps.. sitting or standing.. it makes everything much easier to learn

Re: Wheelie help...

its weird cuz im still iffy about second gear sitdowns...theyre SO torqy, i usually do my wheelies in 3rd (standups, sitdowns, knee in seat) its just alot smoother. i NEVER do wheelies in 1st...haha i remember the day i got my 4 wheeler, i fkin punched it on the test road, and it scared the bejesus out of me. too bad i flipped it off of the back of my truck that same day...with me on top! but hopefully this weekend i can get em down. im beginning to get stoppies(sitting on handlebars, and seat) guess my juevos have swelled up these past months.

Re: Wheelie help...

I just got my Z today and can't stay off it, I like doin 1st gear slow wheelies, but can get it to hop in 3rd. It's to bad that the Z is a LOT different than the scrammy, cause now I have to learn all over again
