Car-Cam
Grrrrrr....thought that I figured out a way to mount my video cam in my car to do some high speed runs....but when I got home and reviewed the tape the idiotic thing moved out of place and was horribly shaky.
Any ideas on how to get the cam in one spot (where?) and have it stay there? I want it to be able to see the gauges.
I'd have somebody ride with me, but I don't want somebody in there flyin down a really rough and twisty road at 145.....
Ugh....I'm depressed.....yeah, I'll get over it.

. I don't know how fast I'd want to go on some spots of this road...gets rough as a mother. You could get some good airtime though, so I'm sure you'd be lovin it.

Re: Car-Cam
why dont you strap it to your bike helmet or your qaud helmet.....use alot of tape if you dont have the helmet cam...and if somehow it does fall not like it will break cause its in your car and you will probably feel it getting lose and stop it before it does....that should also get a view of the gauges also...

Bryan...aka "Sledneck" on here offered to ride with me to film it, but I don't know if that is a good idea or not.
If it comes down to it I'll just try to figure out a way to go through the gears while holding the camera myself.
Re: Car-Cam

Okay... with all the years I've been filming you jokers, I have yet to find a better way than mounting it to an old helmet. I think most of you have seen my creation of holes drilled in an old helmet and using the tripod threaded hole on the bottom of the camera to bolt onto. However, it will rub on the ceiling if you'll be driving while wearing it. I've also tried mounting the camera on a tripod and mounting the tripod somewhere in my car. I did this in the back of my station wagon while filming some clowns a couple years ago. The camera pointed out the rear hatch. Worked okay as long as you weren't going over 50mph.... then it got the shakes. I've also tried mounting a tripod in the back of my truck but it was still shakey. The key is to find a soft enough cushion to strap the tripod to. My advice for this particular stunt is take a couple pillows, mount a tripod to the passenger seat and strap the thing down tight... very tight. The pillows should help with any vibration and if strapped down properly... the camera shouldn't move too much. Hope I helped.

If you don't mind spending a little cash, this is a really nice mount. I bought one of these for testing a portable video unit for undercover work. I know it's just a suction cup, but you will break your window/winshiled before you pull that mount off without relasing it.
Hama Video Camera Mount
You could mount it on your side window, or even your back window. It's very sturdy and does a great job.
I left this mount with a 4 lb camera in my car for over 2 weeks last summer and it never came off. If I still had it I would send it to you, but we sold it.

Patrick Stephens just sent me his latest DVD. As some of you may know... he's from Texas. As is our good friend McNasty. Apparently they practice at the same spot cause you can see Nasty in the background in a couple shots. The funny part is.... every shot that he's in... he's falling off the back of the quad while doing 12's! Patrick even started doing circles around him while he was "trying" to get up off the ground after falling off the back!
