Think Twice before you do the MMI thing bro. It is honestly a fakin joke. They teach you to read service manuals and do tire changes. If you're serious about learning how to wrench on bikes get into a shop. Even if you're the lot boy for a year you will learn SOOOO MUCH MORE!!!! I'm enrolled at MMI right now and it's one of the worst financial and learning decisions I have ever made. Fo Real.

Re: motocross

Rode my friends 98' RM 250 today man, nice bike. Very nice handling but he had some weird **** going on with it. It would idol really high and would sputter alot when i was riding it. The bike would go by itself and i had to ride it sometimes by just using the clutch. By that much detail any idea what's wrong with it?

Re: motocross

try turning the idol down or check and make sure the trottle housing is not psuhed all the way on the bar so it is sticking when you twist

Re: motocross

Don't think so, it was pretty responsive. I mean it revved real high most of the time but when it didn't it was real nice. It had a damn lot of oil coming from the spark plug and the tip of the exhaust. It was shootin a **** load of dark grey smoke so i think it's an oil problem or something.
I think the bike has been sitting in his garage so the oil might have seperated from the gas and went to the bottom. It was very hard to start at first and we had to use starting fluid to get it going.

Re: motocross

Exactly what i'm doing, except for the repacking and ****... i'll just run it till it's dry.

We're taking the exhaust off to drain any oil, taking the cylinder head off to clean it and check the piston rings, taking the carb apart to clean it, and emptying any gas/oil in the tank. I'll prob get to it sometime this week, his bike is bored 30 over out to a 280...not a bad machine. Could have a lil more pull to it but it’s fine how it is, probably a nice trail bike only because the suspension is a lil bit hard on it. Vibrates like a beast and the shocks need to be a little softer to ride fmx.
