Teach, Does fiddy skills translate into street bike skills???

Hey Teach,

I see you are big into the fiddy scene. You feel that a XR50 has helped with transferring tricks to your street bike? As I bring the speed of my bike to slower speeds I am struggling with side to side and front and back balance. As I reach the balance point I find myself freaking out and not able to apply proper brake control. It is a lot like a weightless feeling and then I stomp on my brake or loop it. Do you think learning on a Fiddy will translate skills learned to my street bike?

I'd have to say fo' sho'. I'm no great stunter but after spending time on a fiddy I've learned how to keep the brake covered, kinda made it a habit, and gave me a good feel for controlling through the brake instead of the throttle. There's alot more side to side on a fiddy with the narrow tires and you learn how to shift your weight to compensate for it. I'm trying to put in as much time as I can on the fiddy that Tony's letting me use and hopefully when spring comes around I'll be able to do a decent wheely

yip,

jay is right, the little bikes teach you the side to side balance...an xr 100 is a little better than the fiddy bc it is closer to a streetbike, but it all works the same...practice covering and using the rear brake to slow it down...the key to all wheelies is to use as LITTLE rear brake and as LITTLE gas as possible...try to do things slow!!!

hope it helps and lemme know!
