How do I find out if the 929 parts are the same as 954.
Intrested in 929 swing arm, master cyclinder and brake lever, and raditor. How do I find ot if these will fit my bike?

Ever since the 2002 CBR 954rr came out, I've been lusting over the swingarm that comes on it. The one on the 929 is fine, but not overly nice looking. Being that the 954rr is pretty much a 929rr Version 2.0, a lot of things are similar about them. The main one being the engine casing, which is bored out 1mm on the 954 giving it the extra displacement. On the 954 and 929 they mount the swingarm off the engine itself. As luck would have it, they kept the swingarm mount identical between the two bikes. After digging around Ebay for the good part of 10 months, I was able to come up with a complete rear end off a 954, including the shock and all linkage, swingarm, hugger, and other misc parts that go on the swingarm. At first I had the 954 shock installed with the setup, but it was causing issues and the rebound was acting very slow. So I swapped the 929 shock back in and things were fine. I had to use the 954 swingarm, 954 linkage, 954 brake carrier, 929 shock, 929 dogbone, and 929 axle (same as 954). They changed something on the break carrier so you'll need the 954 one. And the linkage on a 929 is alittle longer in one direction, where the 954 linkage is more equilateral. You can make the 929 linkage work, but need to grind away some of one side to clear the exhaust, and the bike will sit about 1" lower. For the most part this mod is only for looks. But the 954 swingarm is about half a pound lighter, stiffer, and stronger than the 929 swingarm. So there is a minor performance gain to be had by doing this, but hardly one worth it. Sadly my nice NWS hugger no longer fits on the bike, but the 954 does come with a nice hugger stock.
