Close Call Last Night......

So last night I'm buzzing up and down my street on my fiddy. All my neighbors come out to see what's going on. It was nice out so it seemed like the whole neighborhood was getting a kick out of my "cute little bike" as they call it. Yeah, the damn thing isn't so cute considering what almost happens next....

Now, one of my neighbor's just had a baby boy (6 mo's ago). She's out walking the baby and stops in front of my house to talk w/ me. I park the fiddy and begin shooting the ****... blah, blah... she has 3 kids and her and her husband are thinking about getting their 8 year old a fiddy, blah, blah. Now, another little boy (he's about 10yr old) has been watching me. When I stop, he asks if he can take my fiddy for a ride. I say, "No" and then begin to explain why. I tell everyone standing around this story about this kid who asked me once and ended up accidentally twisting the throttle, the bike ran away from him, then it flew into a table, blah, blah, blah.... and in the end, I was lucky he wasn't hurt. Now I don't let anyone ride it... blah, blah, blah.

5 seconds later the 10 yr old boy asks me..... "Can I sit on the bike?"
I say, "ok"
Another 5 second later he asks.... "Can I start it?"
I say, "ok"

Now I've been watching him and he seemed to know where all the controls were... he even started it no problem. So I give in and let him take it down the street. He starts it up, puts it in gear, and twists the throttle. Sure as anything, the bike lifts up into a wheelie and starts pulling away from him. Now he's holding on for dear life and continues to twists the throttle even more. The bad part comes next... the fiddy is headed right for the 6mo old sitting in the stroller. I mean, the fiddy was no more than 5 ft from the front of the stroller, facing it. I am watching all of this and it was like I saw it happen, before it happened. I grab the handle bar on 50 (while in a wheelie) and spin it around me pulling it away from the baby. I swear the handle bar wizzed right by the baby's head. The 10yr old felt like a total idiot and so did I for letting him ride it.

This just goes to show how damn dangerous these "cute little things" are. They aren't so damn cute when little people can get hurt. Imagine if that 6mo old got hit head-on with this thing... NOT GOOD!

So, THAT'S IT!! 2 times I let someone ride and 2 times it ended in a disaster. No more letting kids ride the fiddy!!

Lata,
Bri

PS. Just figured I'd share the story with all of you so the next time some a kid asks you, "Hey, can I ride your bike?" You can say, "***** OFF KID, YOU'LL ***** **** UP!!"

Amen. Fifties were not made for little kids!

Well, ok they were I guess, but they were made for a kid to ride in a controlled environment with proper gear. I'm a little hesitant about even letting a grown person ride my fifty, unless I know them and know that they have at least a few brain cells.

I hope you learned your lesson the SECOND time Bri.

On a side note: some little 10 year-old girl in my neighborhood was giving me **** this weekend for riding the fifty. She's all like -
"Aren't you a little big for that bike?"
"My brother has that same bike, and he's 7."
"Are you allowed to ride that on the streets?"

So I'm all like -
"Yeah, Whateva!"
"I can do a poppa-wheelie"

When ever anyone I don't know or a kid wants to ride it I say it's "having problems" right now. I'm trying to figure out what I have to do to fix it.

I do not let kids ride it also. In the day of lawsuits I have worked way to hard to have some kids parents take everything I own away from me.

If you do get it for a younger kid you can always put the restrictor on it. My little 5 year old cousin has one and his dad has it so it goes very slow.

I let NastyTLR who is as big as Eclipse ride my 50 I say to him "Becareful when you shift from 1st to 2nd cuz you'll loop it!!" He's all like "Yeah Whatever!!" So i sit back sure enough whan almost on his ***.

Scenario 2: I'm cocked at Eclipse's pahty. His landlord comes up and asks if his 12 year old daughter could ride it. Being the nice guy I am I say Sure. I explain all the controls and this and that. She hops on, rides it ok. Then for some reason she's headed right for a tree. Sure nuff it wheelies up the tree she twists the throttle all the way and there goes my 50 crashin into the tree. That was the end of that.

So the moral of the story is............Don't let some kid ride your 50 cuz his dad will kick your *** and then take your 50 bike and car from you when his kid breaks a leg.

So did the mother of the baby damn near have a heart attack of what? I can't see how they would make those things for kids ... I know more "adults" that get hurt in them ... LOL ... of course they aren't just riding responsibly either ... As a matter of fact, now that I think about it, these things might be better off in the hands of some kids than some of the adults I know that ride them ... LOL ... Glad to hear everything was ok - good thing you reacted quick ...
