motor mods besides big bore.!! look!!
the mechanic in the shop i work at just got a fiddy and has this thing hauling *** w/ just a few cheap mods.
XR70 camshaft
modified air box
port n polish head (intake and exhaust)
that's it. he just ordered a fatter jet.
as is it is as fast as a bolt on 88 kit.
CRAZY DAN. BUY A 70 CAM FOR YOUR ****.
note: fast50's and most other 50 parts distributors will tell you the 70 cam won't work. that is bs, it goes right in.

I heard (disclaimer - not sure is true) that the XR70 cylinder jug & head fit right on - to make the whole conversion.
Instead of porting & polishing the head, can you put the XR70 cam & head on the fifty Jug for some good power increase? Also, what kinda exhaust are you running, and finally. Main jet size & needle position.

70 head
Any advantages you get from the bigger valves will be offset by the 70 heads larger combustion chamber. Plain and simple, it will drop your compression so bad that it won't get out of it's own way. You can shave the head to counter that problem but that creates a different set of problems. My .02 if you feel that with a stock bore and stroke that you need bigger valves go get them, but keep the stock head. Porting will wake up any bike, make sure to send the intake with the head so they can be matched up. Another free power tip- before you put that head back on look at the head gasket. You will notice that it is in 3 seperate layers. Peel the outer 2 layers off and install only the center piece. Might want to check clearances if using a hi-lift cam. Stock 50 cut the spark arrester off of the endcap, raise the needle-bottom clip, toss the stock airbox and run a clamp-on pod filter.:p If your dealer doesn't know what one of these are or where to get one of these for you, find another dealer. Cause the stupid son of a bitch has no buisness being there. Sorry/flashback:D
