Street Tires=wheelies harder

I just got pirelli 3.00's on my bike and my wheelies suck. I use to be able to wheelie for dayz on the stock knobbies, im thinking its casue of the taller tire the bike cant pull it back up as easy (taller tire = less accel more top end) What do you guys think about this? Im thinkin of switching to a 2.50 or 2.75 I've heard people say stay with stock size but most people say go up to a 3.00 For the record I have stock engine. No bore kit.

I got 3.00 kendas on my stock 04' fiddy. I can roll em' for a long time.....It is a tad harder to pull up but way easier to ride em out. The day I put em' on my wheelies improved 200%. Keep practicing...it only gets easier with more seat time

Re: Street Tires=wheelies harder

Yea I have a basically stock motor. I did gut the airbox and do some work to the intake with a dremel though. I also cut the spark arrestor screen out.

I run the 3x10 Cheng Shin tires and I can go forever on 'em (or I used to be able to). I'm pretty sure my bud f1fty bought one for the back (or is going to). You'll grow to love 'em when ya learn em. Circles are way easier and I actually get better traction offroad then bald stock tires.

Re: Street Tires=wheelies harder

street tires are better , but it takes some getting used to for the 3.0's but I roll the 2.75's. you might want to lower air pressure

Re: Street Tires=wheelies harder

how much air pressure you got? try letting some air out, more surface contact you have with the tire, the better the wheelies are...

Re: Street Tires=wheelies harder

just run low enough tire pressure that your wheelies go straight it works fill the tire up all the way then let some out some at a time and watch the differeence every time you let some out just dont go to low because your spokes will sometime pop your tube check to make sure the spokes are all tight and that they arent stiking inside the wheel too much hope this helps :YEAH

Re: Street Tires=wheelies harder

im all about the 2.75's.

3.0's are cool but standup circle combos seem a bit harder the wider you go.

I have 15 in front, 20 in rear. I like a real hard tire for circle wheelies in back and I like it kinda soft for stoppies. Just try out different numbers and you'll find a combo you like.
