Question about my 50
Question about my 50
I just bought a new CRF 50 from a dealership about a half hour from where I go to school. I paid $1199 and with taxes, came to about $1300. I filled out DMV forms to have it registered, and then they took the bike outta the showroom, put a little gas in it, showed me a few things, and I left. Then two days later, I get a phone call from the guy, telling me that he "forgot" to charge me for the registration and for a "docking" fee.
Now, do I have to pay for it? Can't I just go and register it myself? And what the hell is a docking fee, he walked it outta the showroom for me. He also told me that I had a FULL tank of gas, because I specifically asked. And then two hours later, I was stalling out.
I haven't called him back yet, and it's been like a week since he's called me. Do you think that he can hold the title of my 50?
Thanks for the help

Re: Question about my 50
WTF??? Fock that!!! Give them hell!!! Tell them that they were suppose to let you know about any fees at the time of the transaction. You assumed the deal was final and the price was OUT THE DOOR.... and that's it. That's their fault. If they don't accept that fact, give them the focking 50 back and tell them that you'll be contacting Honda of America notifying them of the poor service you recieved from that dealership. And also let them know you'll be contacting the BBB about the situation too. That should get them going on their way.
By all means, don't pay (even though it's not all that much). Threaten to sue for the title if you have to. But don't pay for it. Anything over $1300 OTD is too much anyways.

Re: Question about my 50
It's only like 40 bucks, but that's not even the point...I handed the guy CASH for the thing, and I probably could have gotten a new '05 for the same price...he didn't knock ANYTHING off the price...which was stupid....but he gave me my receipt, and then told me I'd be getting my final bill of sale in the mail along with the title....I got the call at like 8 in the morning....which is
because everyone knows that college kids aren't even close to being awake then
I think I'm just nervous because this is the first purchase that I've ever really made on my own, and I'd like the title to it. I'm not really worried about registering it (and he told me that I HAD to, which I don't think is true)..I just think it was a shitty move on his part..I just gave you $1300 in cash and your gonna try to get another 40 bucks outta me?
And I told him that I bought it from him because he was somewhat local, and I'd be able to bring it there for any repairs or whatever I needed...I'll admit, I'm a girl and I'm just learning....but screw that, he's not getting another dime of my money...

registering it? wtf is that ****. i went into the dealer and payed the guy cash then walked out with the title in hand. the only way you have to register the fiddy is to get an offroad plate or to put it on the road (with a street legal kit of course)i'd go in and tell the dealer to f*** off and i'd ask him why the **** the title would have to shipped to ur house and ask why u cant get the bill of sale upon purchase. **** dealers and **** scammers
Re: Question about my 50
Just got another phone call
He goes..."I was just calling so that we can straighten this out, the matter of $41.71 cents....give me a call as soon as you can so we can get this taken care of and everything straight with the DMV.."
WHAT THE ****...now I'm just angry....I may be a girl, but I'm not stupid...I saw a kid this weekend at Stuntrageous with a brand new '05 CRF 50 that he got for $1100 WITH a free handlebar kit in the mail.....I paid almost $1300 for mine, which I know is my mistake, but you're still trying to get your $40 outta me?!?! I better wait to call him back, or else I'm just gonna wind up yelling at him
I should bring it over there and do a burnout in his showroom

Tell that ******* to give you all the $ back - give him the 50 back and take your hard earned cash and go get a tricked out 50 for that price!

Re: Question about my 50
dirt bike you get an mso
manufacturers statement of origin
no title on dirtbikes no need for it unless you are gonna register it for the srtreet you dont need a title unless it gets impounded by johnny law
i would tell him you just want the mso and youll take care of the dmv yourself
im not sure how the law is in new york it may be different you may be required to title it but i doubt it. i would call the dmv and ask if its required
then go talk to the shop manager

Re: Question about my 50
So I finally decided to call this f*ckhead back...bad idea
Ladies and gentlemen, you are officially looking at a SUCKER
.....I asked him why I was being charged a "doc" fee...turns out it wasn't a docking fee, but a document fee. I got charged $25 for him to fill out paperwork. And when I told him that I checked with the DMV, and my 50 didn't have to be registered, he said that as of the first of the year, ALL dirt bikes and ATV's had to be registered in NYS.
I didn't want to argue with him, even though I wanted to kick him in the junk...so I just paid it....and now I'm calling Honda, because I think it's bullshit...he told me that the smart thing to do would be to register it, because it's for my own safety..
Ladies....if you plan on buying a 50....TAKE A GUY WITH YOU

Re: Question about my 50
A (doc fee) is a fee the dealer can charge a person to do paperwork thru the state, just free money for the dealer. In michigan for cars the dealer can charge the customer up to 160.00.
