haters

I was riding the 50 tonight at say 9 oclock. I just got home from work. So i was riding down my street eating subway as a police man pulled up to me. I told him that i lived right there. ( i was right in front of my driveway) and that i wasnt causing any trouble. He went on about how they are illegal to drive on the street etc. etc. he then went on with being an a hole and gave me a ticket

Re: haters

I hate cops. Don't they have better things to do with their time? It's all about revenue.

EXACTLY...why the hell do the cops bust our asses when half the kids in my highschool are smoking dope? Isnt that much worse then riding a freaking minibike on the sidewalk and backroads that NO ONE uses nor cares that we ride on?

Re: haters

i just recently found out that in VA there's a loop hole in the law (have to review specifics) about anything under 50cc not having to be registered/licensed in a similiar way that you dont have to for a moped (typically) so therefore you cant get in trouble for many things since it cant legally be registered anyway.

i'm going to research more on the specifics, cuz my ***** of a neighbor gave me **** (yes i just turned 30yrs old) since he's a game warden about writing me up if he see's me on the "road" again - and by road i mean the non-through street that my home is on.

Yep it's like that in missouri too. I've gotten pulled over quite a few times and i just tell the cops that its a moped and it's legal. They've never been able to write me a ticket.

http://www.dor.mo.gov/mvdl/drivers/dlguide/chapter7.htm

oh and if you got one of those driving laws books things that you gotta read when you get your permit there's a section in there about what's considered a moped, but it's the same as that second link

i live in kahoka, missouri, about 2 hrs north of st.louis and we ride them all the time around here, we asked a cop who's a friend of mine and he said that in missouri you can ride them in the day time, it is legal as long as you have a valid drivers license, and he told us an orange flag, or a helmet, but i don't use any of them, and at night you can ride aslong as you have a headlight, brake light, and turn signal, he told me that if any cops give me s**t about rideing just to tell them that it is all legal, as we know some cops are cool not many though, and most are a**holes.

Sorry S&M I just realized I missed your response in this thread until now. Over in the thread about street legalizing a fifty I posted the city code for my city (independence MO) and it matches the state law exactly but it was pointed out that the 50 does not have an auto transmission.. how you gettin away with it..??

And Wagz yup got it..

Well it's semi auto and when the cops asked I just said it's an auto and they believed me. Pretty soon im gonna be putting a 72cc manual clutch lifan engine on it so its gonna be pretty illegal, but I doubt the cops will be able to tell the difference.
