Do I need new tubes?

I'm waiting for my 3" kenda street tires and I'm getting anxious. I'm trying to get everything ready so I can put them on as soon as I get them. Can I use my tubes from my original 2.5" tires or do I have to get new tubes (probably should have thought of that before I ordered the tires). Also any tips you can give for getting the tires on the rims at home would help. What tools, anything to watch out for that kind of stuff.

Stock tubes will work fine. You will need 2 or 3 tire irons and alot of dish soap. Soap is the most important thing you can have, without liquid soap it's a major bitch to get the tire onto the rim. Also, take your time and be sure not to pinch the tube.

Good luck!

Nah your stock tubes will work great. I just went to 2.75 on the front and 3.0 on the rear last Saturday and the stock tubes work great.

Say I don't have tire irons but I have a shi# ton of flathead screwdrivers will that work? Otherwise think walmart sells tire irons and how much are they, by miracle my tires were at the doorstep when i got home from work tonight.

You can use 3 flatblades as well, jsut be extra careful that the tube isn't pinched before you start prying.

I just used three very large flat head screwdrivers. Soapy dishwater is your friend!!! Tire irons would help alot though. It helps a ton to have someone help you stand on the tire, hold the wheel etc.

OK THIS SUCKS! I can't even get the freakin stock tire off. I'm all freaked out i'm gonna put a huge hole in the tube. So what am I supposed to do anyways, I put soapy water on the rim and took all the air out. I tride pealing the tire off the rim and can't get it. Is that even how your supposed to do it? This is the first time i've ever messed with a tire and rim seperately!

I feel your pain bro! I thought it would be easy like the days I rode my bicycle, but it wasn't. These tires are much thicker and tougher. I first started w/ flatheads, but I now use two Motion Pro tire irons and it has made my life easier. Pry one side up and hold it, and pry approx. an eighth to a quarter ways from your starting point, and continue like you're opening a can.

Re: Do I need new tubes?

HAHA with the grace of god i got the back tire off without damaging the tube. Then I even managed to get the new tire on and the tube still holds air and I can't hear a leak, we'll see if it has air tomorrow. But then with the comedy of god its freaking storming and raining when i leave my basement to try out the tire! I drove it in the rain anyways and that fricker grips even in the rain it had tons. I did some little wheelies and I can totaly feel a difference it doesn't tip like it used to. With some practice I should be able to wheelie like a champ and I can't wait to get the front on tomorrow and try some stoppies. HOPEFULLY the air holds.

Thanks for the help guys, I learned ya just gotta pry a little at a time, leave the screwdriver in and take another one and pry some more then leapfrog and keep going!

HAHAHA both tires on without a leak with flathead screwdrivers in less than an hour! Went out and rode for a bit they are so sticky its awsome and they track alot straighter in a wheelie. But I just wondered what psi u guys usually run in your street tires?
