Unhappy broken back...

so yesterday i witnessed the most f*cked up fiddy accident i've ever seen... i foolishly let my boy jared ride my (apparently overpowered) 88cc fiddy around the hood and to the park. not even ten minutes into it he was flying through the air, smacked straight into a tree, and BROKE HIS F*CKING BACK. i'm like 'hooooly ****! WTF!'... had to call 911, wait... then have him airlifted to the hospital and checked out. he broke a vertibrae in his lower back and got a laceration on his kidney, so he'll be in the hospital for a few weeks and outta work for at least two months (full recovery is expected). it's hard to describe what he did but if you imagine going off a jump, doing a tailwhip to the right and rotating 90 degrees to the left, the bottom of the bike was the leading object in his direction of travel. he slammed into the tree almost dead on the footpeg bracket and bouced off, so i guess when he hit the tree his butt hit the seat and his whole back compressed enough to break bones (he was going about 25-30). oh well so life goes on... surprisingly the bike held up really well, and i think all the bike really needs is a new frame (subframe's bent and mangled), i'll post pics of the bike later, but i'm just glad he's ok, it could've been a whole lot worse.
B

UPDATE: jared actually got to walk a few feet yesterday (thurs), using beams, a back brace, and a lotta drugs. but he said that anyone else on three shots of morphine could do it too... i still think it's cool though, that's quicker than i would've thought. he got released today and is gonna be in bed for a while... so i'll keep ya posted.

here's the fiddy before it hit the tree...

Re: broken back...

Man,

I'm so sorry to heat that happened...........

People these things although small are dangerous.......

That is why the only people I like to let ride them is other people with 50's. I used to let my girl friends ride mine but now it really is too damn powerful. I wouldn't want to see anyone underestimate it and get hurt.

I hope your friend is ok .... I would rather break anything other then my neck or back...........

Please be careful.

Re: broken back...

thanks guys i'll send your regaurds... fab5 and silver said it right, these fiddys ain't no joke and they can F*CK YOU UP! especially now that i've dumped so much money into it i can't let anyone ride this thing unless they have one too or there's special circumstances. looks like i'll have a chromoly frame soon though, so we'll see how that works out. does anyone know if the FI bar will mount up to a butted subframe? i think it should but i just wanna make sure.

Re: broken back...

Holy moses! That there is some crazy ****. Makes me glad I'm a street rider most of the time. I did ram a lightpole the other day. Right in front of the girls lacrosse team.

Goin 2nd gear, no footer, one hander. Looked behind me for a sec and wound up leaning the bike just enough to clip the pole with my bars. Fell right on my face.

Hope your bud makes a full recovery, no more fiddies for him!
