Stoppie Tips & Tricks
Stoppie Tips & Tricks
Ok, I've concord the wheelie now, and I'm ready to movie onto the huge stoppies I see in the vids. Please shoot me some pointers, do & don'ts, what speed, what gear, where to sit, etc. I don't want to end up in the ambulance on the first try.

I started out doing them in 2nd and would fan the throttle until I grew ***** to hit the front brake. After a while I wanted to go farther so I kicked it up to third gear. Now I'm up to third gear pinned with a 88CC and can easily get 50-60 feet. I have learned that when doing endos you pinch the front brake to get the back tire up and then treat the brake as if you stopping for a stop sign. when you come up to the stop sign you don't slam on the brakes, you work the brake pressure from how much distance you have to the sign. If your tire is coming down apply pressure, if you applied too much pressure then lean your head back toward your seat to shift your weight. That's all I have for you.
start off slow in third gear and stay sitting down and use the front brake to pop it up. the trick is to get it to the point where your almost gonna fall on your face, the higher they are the less brake you have to use. therefore the farther you can roll them.its less painful to learn them sitting over the bars bcuz you can bail if you have to. when your first learning them no matter what you are goin to crash i no i did and i got the scars to prove it!
i'm still no good at distance but what i've learned is to grab the brake lever w/ all four fingers (makes it a lot easier to bring it up and regulate pressure), and keep your feet on the pegs (some keep'em out front), i think it makes it easier to adjust your weight distribution. try to keep your crotch on the tank and concentrate your weight onto the handlebars and the rear will come up easy. just get out there and practice.

all of you guys failed to tell the lad to wear a helmet, to many of us get seriously injured on the 50's . there is NO way that you can learn good stoppies without falling..... alot, helmets, gloves, knee pads and roadracing boots have saved me from a ton of injuries... just my 2 cents, but if you dont belive me read the 2004 crashes thread...... old man Freeman....
<--------- as you can see stoppies gone kinda hurt.
Def. listen to Free. where some gear. and practice mine are still only roll a few feet but all the roads here have snow on them so i have to let the stoppies rest for a while. Also you can try bouncing your *** off the tank right before you get on the brakes. it will give you a little momentum and help get the back tire of the ground

Practice doing them in third, I've seen a few bad wrecks when kidz try to do them in first or 2nd. The reason being, the bike has so much power (according to its size) in 1st as soon as you let the *** end down it will want to lift the front up, or it will flip the bike over.

you can kinda tell in this pic
i gotta agree with sittin a lil farther back.... i tried sittin up close first then i tried sittin towards the back of the bike....worked a lot better when sittin towards the back of the seat...plus i can keep my arms out straighter to give me more leverage and its more comfortable.... just my 2 cents
ya, i stand up first, but also...i will usually run the bike up to the middle of third or so, then push down on the shift lever to shift to second, except hold it down that way whenever you come back down the bike is in it's false neutral......but i guess if you're big pimpin rollin' the 192' stoppies the motor is all the way back down to idle by the time you're stopped anyways right? lol
I sit up on the tank kinda - and when bringing the bike up give it alittle HOP so i don't burn out all my speed. Once you get it in the 'oh ****' zone - where you hardly are on the brake & the fiddy floats. thats the ****! My best is 60 feet tapped on a stock fiddy. havn't tried w/ my 88 kit yet - but im sure i need alot less room for speed :YEAH

gloves are a must and helmets are a plus, just don't push it too far past your limit if you're not ready.
