Bar question...
Ok, tomorrow I'm going to the local welder to have him either weld on a pair of BMX bars, or have him weld on the BMX bar clamp so the bars are adjustable/removeable (which is my first choice). Anyway, I got the bars and I got the clamp, but I was just thinking... are BMX bars and the fiddy bars the same size?? I hear people talking about different sizes. My BMX bars are regular/standard size. In my head they seem the same, but I don't wanna be wrong AFTER the damage is done. And it's 3AM so I can't go out and check my shed. Please let me know. Also, can I get away with my stock cables, or do I need a longer brake or throttle? If I need new ones, antone ever rig up different cables to get it to work? Thanks guys/gals...
the bmx bars are bigger then the stock bars....you will have to use a 7/8 inch throttle and your stock throttle won't fit but your stock cable will you just have to route it off to the right of the frame. here is what i did for my "po man's setup" you can measure the throttle that you have stock or just put a mark on the bar where it is right now. then cut off teh stock bar right where it starts to bend but is still traight. then measuer the distance between the end of the stock bar and where you made your mark for the throttle (should leave about an 1 1/2" of the stock bar) cut off the bmx bar at the mark and beat the stock bar into the bmx bar with a hammer till you get to that line. then your stock throttle will slide over that. trust me it won't pull out
