you still gotta worry about the title don't you?
In N.J. You can reg and insure it and its street legal, Not on main roads or highways, like around neighborhood streets. When I reg mine they gave me a plate, I was like where am I going to mount it.... They local cops say ,no problem riding it aroud ,,as long as I comply with stop signs. How can you be street legal whenat stock bike barley hits 30mph?. You can make your 50 legal with those lights cheaper out of the Parts Unlimited book. $500.00 sounds like a rip off....It doesnt even give you a new stator!!!!!! Hell I wouldnt want to be street legal and be on main roads. Imagine an Excursion riding your *** or moving in your lane .FU$% That.
In mASSachusetts, you can register the thing as a moped. No inspetion is done. No lights, title, horn, etc. needed. Here, all you need is a driver's permit (car OR motorcycle permit, min. age is 16) and go to the Boat and ATV registry and sign this paper saying your bike is 50cc's or under, it does not exceed 30 MPH, and you will not ride it over 25 MPH on any public road. Also, highway use is allowed as long as the highway doesn't have a "no bicycles" sign... Look into your moped laws before you blow $500 on crap ya don't need.
