Pit Bike Help

Hey guys. I want to learn to do wheelies and I was reading that it is a good idea to start on a quad or pit bike. I have an R1 and i dont want to wreck it trying wheelies on it. I was leaning towards getting a pit bike. I am 6'0 and 205 lbs. Any recommendations on a bike I should get . I also want to be able to find parts for it in case anything breaks down. Thank you

ps. Here a bike for sale close to me that I could purchase. Any input would be great

Re: Pit Bike Help

I would go with a crf/xr50. Im 6'3 185 and I ride it just fine, big bars and stiffer suspension and I don't even notice the size!! I actually stepped down from an f4i to this, just wasn't having as much fun on the big bike...cops love them and leave these alone!

Re: Pit Bike Help

are different models on the crf 50? I see that you mention the xr. Is that the specific model i should get. Does have enough power?

Re: Pit Bike Help

xr is the pre-crf. Same exact bike honda just decided to get rid of the XR name, the only update was the plastics and the kickstarter which got more "modern" look, however the crf plastics and kickstarter will swap right onto an xr. When I bought new plastics for my crf I put my old set on my buddies '03 XR.

Re: Pit Bike Help

ohh yeah, and for a little more torque I went up to a 40 tooth sproket in the rear. Most guys just run stock though with no problems.

Re: Pit Bike Help

pitster pro 125 is a great bike.... order parts directly from pitster and it has a four speed manual tranny, disk brakes and way better suspension... some peeps like the auto 3 sp on the xr/crf better tho...im a clutch guy and i like a bigger motor too!!!
