handbrake hints?

I have alot of trouble catching the front wheel with the brake when i hit BP. It seems like my hand brake either has too much or not at all. I just can't find a happy medium. It seems like sometimes it does absolutely nothing and I loop and then other times it'll just slam the front right back down. Think I need it set up adjusted differently? Should I be dragging the brake the whole time and gassing thru it or just taking small stabs? Any hints would be much appreciated.

I have never had a handbrake that performed good enough to be a life saver. They work good enough to catch urself but never "lock up" good. I just got the kitaco pads and when i put them on im gunna try the brake mod and see how that works...but nevr as good as hydraulic!!

Did u get the extended rear brake arm with urs. I know Ryan use to sell them with the normal arm, now they are extended arms. I'm asking because mine is the extended arm and i can lock mine up tighter than the lid on a pickle jar. Leave black marks for days.......=-)

I believe the original poster needs to adjust the rear brake to his liking. Try it set up hard and set up easy. Adjusting small amounts until he feels comfortable with it....Also, to the poster.....You learn by using the brake but after u progress u ;earn to control the bike more with throttle and less brake. Yes u will tap the brake here and there to gain a little control. But by no means do u have to "ride" the brake. Once u get use to balance point, u really have no need for the brake that much unless u get past BP and u need to drop back below. But that can also easily be down with throttle control.......Its just the process of learning........Practice will always make u better. Just do whatever u feel is confortable. Just because one thing works easy for another person, doesnt mean that it is gonna work easy for you. We are all different...=-)

When u get into more complexed tricks and combos...THEN u will see why u learned your brake control when u did, hehe..=-)

Re: handbrake hints?

I just got the extended arms in yesterday(front and rear) with the pads...another pretty good order!! But i still haven't ben able to ride the bike due to th knee surgery from january! The last bike i had never had the extended arm, so im hoping with the new pads, brake shaving mod and the arm this thing will lock up pretty good...well see here in a few weeks when i can get on it.
