i just bought an 03 xr 50 with an 88 kit, two bros pipe, reinforced sub frame, big bar.. well, my point is, i can ride second and third out all day, i can pop first up but its so short i can't do anything with it.. any suggestions?

 

change the sproket, 34t for the rear.

 

.. never thought of going down in the rear.. =/ i guess coming from a big bike to a small is a little different.

 

With the 88 kit that is the gearin everyone runs. Been said thats the perfect gearing for it.

it will give you more speed out of your first gear and it wont be to torquey.... sounds logical to me...good luck

 

88 kit and stock gearing here. i can rock 1st gear wheelies all day long.

 

might be because i'm so new to a 50, i could rock 1st gear all day on my f3, but i can't ride bp on this yet..

 

First gear is so short you have to get it right up to BP... You have no room for error really its either you get it up or you don't... For first gear i bring mine past BP almost everytime and just bring it down that way i still can adjust the throttle if i need too..

going slow on a 50 is a lot harder than going slow on an f3 imo. do you have a street tire yet?

Yeah I'm leaning on a built 88 thats on my '03 xr50. First gear goes real fast but, its what I'm doing everything in. You'll get use to it.

yeah it made a world of a difference.. i got to where i could pop up first from a stop today after playing with my pilot screw and ride them for a second.. BP works wonders.. then rain came and scared me off.. then cops came when rain left =/

I like stock gearing with the 88 on mine. took me an hour to get used to the new power but now it feels like butter.

 

just gonna stay on the same thread instead of starting a new one..

what is the best way to go with forks? i'm assuming mine are stock and i'm raised up in the rear already, just no front height, and these forks keep taking a beating..

i've looked at BBR, two bros, sik50, all are so different in price, jsut don't know exactly what i need.

I have the complete BBR front with the SP5 forks, and i so ******* love them.....However, the stock fork seals are a POS (need to replace them with stock crf70 fork seals).....IF i had to do it all over again, i'd go with EVERYTHING from 50stunt. Ryans part as next to perfect and u will not heara a single person complain about his parts or his customer service.......I would not go any other route, unless u really wanna spend good money on BBR (but thats just my opinion)...=-)
