need help no response from throttle

Hi guys ok I'm not very mechanically inclined but I'm jobless and trying to save money so my 50 has been bogging and dieing so I decided to clean the carb I also changed my grips and added a new air filter I did the carb cleaning via this method here http://www.ronincycleparts.com/categ...r-stroke-carb/

so I put everything back together and boom it fired up real strong but when i went to ride it I get no response from the throttle no rev or nothing it just sits in idle.. also it doesnt seem to get into gear either dont know if these are related and or if this problem came from doing the carbs or if it could have been from the changing the grips help please thanks

Re: need help no response from throttle

Probably two seperate issues. Not to be a dick or anything but you checked your throttle connection right? And you are sure the throttle tube is turning when you twist the grip right?

take the slide out of the carb (the screw on part on the top of the carb the throttle cable goes to) when its out make sure it moves when u twist the throttle if it does then make sure it goes into the carb right, it only goes in one way it should slide all the way down into the carb.

if it doesnt move when you give it throttle then make sure the throttle assembly is on right

Re: need help no response from throttle

when i got my new/used motor i had this problem with my throttle for some reason my fast 50 billet throttle didn't work and had to use a stock throttle to make it pull normally. not shure if this helps at all but i would check and make shure the cables hooked up to the slide in the carb first and pulling up when twisting throttle.

ok so i removed the slide and when its not screwed in it moves and springs back n stuff but as soon as i screw it in the throttle doesn't move anymore I tried screwing that little bolt all the way up then all the way down.. is there a certain way it needs to be adjusted.

thanks

Re: need help no response from throttle

the slide...the cylinder looking thing you pull out of the carb...will only work if its in the correct way. it should slide all the way into the carb, take the air filter off and look in to see its seated if it not pull it out a little and spin the slide until it seats.

sorry if that hard to understand it hard to explain without having a carb and you in front of me

when you changed the grips did you take the throttle assembly off the bars?

Edit: just so we're on the same page this is the slide...
