Or is even getting HD worth it for HD youtube/ Vimeo videos???? cause thats the main purpose...although i have seen some nice HD vids on both!!!!!

I have the non HD version of the JVC one you are looking at and it's not bad but I learned after I bought it that video quality is a lot better of mini DV camcorders vs. hard drive camcorders. This is because the HDD (hard drive) camcorders compress the video to make it fit onto the hard drive while the mini dv camcorders capture the video without using compression.

But the HDD camcorders are a lot easier to transfer to a computer and will record longer.

If you're looking for a NICE HD camcorder you're gonna have to spend some bucks. check cnet for reviews though, they generally have good ones. in fact, check every review site you can find comparing similar cameras. see what the really expensive cameras have that one around $750 doesnt. i bought a little crappy $160 video camera just so i could get some video of whatever i do.

 

I got a SONY 1080p with a 40g hard drive. Its dope. I payed about 800 for it a year ago, but well worth it.
