my buddy wiped on my fiddy and now when i put it in 1st, its actually in 3rd. i can shift into first through second but everytime going from neutral, it starts in 3rd. WTF?!?! is there a simple fix? will it need some kinda rebuild? is it fuct? dammit if he only listened to the 100 times i told him to not only cover the rear brake but TO USE IT instead of dropping his feet.

 

this has never happened to anyone else?

 

never herd of anybody having that problem on a real crf. but a friend of mind had it on his chineese pit bike. his soulution was buying a real fiddy.

 

Never heard of this. Probably have to take the tranny apart and look for anything out of the ordinary. If I had to guess I would think it would be something to do with the shifter fork.

 

its an xr50. he was in 2nd, looped and the bike pancaked. now it shifts in reverse.

 

havent got to get inside a fiddy yet but it sounds like that somehow you may have spun the star on the end of the shift drum. but i dont see how thatd be possible cuz theres usually pins that hold it in place. i dunno thats got me stumped

 

could a pin have sheared when it hit? is there a diagram for the transmission?

 

yea chances are that pin sheared n the star spun. had it happen i my 110 when i high sided. its actually an easy fix. just pull the cover and slide the star out.

 

ill pop it open tonight. will the sheared pin be obvious? is there a part number for a replacement pin?

 

not super obvious. mine was on the back of the star, you'll understand it once you get it open.

I have a couple of extra motors laying around with electric start good trans but they need top ends if your interested
