Re: Painting plastics?

Yeah. Replaced my plastics a few times. repainted everytime. Just bought a compressor and a spray gun. the paint cost me about $100 bucks from my local auto paint store. it only takes like a quart to paint a bike, then a quart of clear coat.

Re: Painting plastics?

those are some sweet rims. But one thing wrong it fiddy plastics bend a lot more than big bike plastics. So even if it stays nice on your honda it may not work on the fifty. I say if you do enough prep work and buy the good stuff you can do it.

Re: Painting plastics?

thanks, man. i love my bike. i did a rattle can job using duplicolor, but i want to get a gun and spray better. it looks good but if u pay super close attention, u can find a few uneven spots. i think a gun would help me do a better job. u paint with a gun?

Re: Painting plastics?

i found some great advice on easypaintyourcar.com, especially a small section for painting and repairing plastics. i even ordered his disk for 10 bucks. a good investment, IMO, especially since it's so cheap.

Re: Painting plastics?

Nothings wrong with rattle can on some stuff, just not 50 plastics. If you dont mind the way it looks when the plastic bends go for it.

Re: Painting plastics?

I have shot my dirt phifty with base and clear. They seem to be holding up nice. I have had it painted for a little over a year now. The prepping to get the paint to stick was a pain to do. Something about the plastics did not want to stick and kept lifting after one coat. I ended up using laquar thinner to heat up the plastics by wiping it down. Then shot the base and it stuck after that. I was thinking about doing the plastics on my stunt phifty. I might just got solid black and paint the frame and powder coat the rims. I drop the bike I dont want to have to sand and spray again.
