06 CRF 50 lack of power.

I just tried to ride my friends 04 50 and noticed that there is alot more bottom end on his. Both our bikes are the same setup, but feels like when I do sit downs on his, it feels way easier. I did drop mine alot in the past, might I need to check my float in the carb?

Also on the 06, I noticed there is only one clip position on the needle and I replaced the air screw with the flat blade one.

Re: 06 CRF 50 lack of power.

on 06 and newer you gotta buy an adjustable needle out of a older carb

Also, there could be a lot of difference between the two bikes.. One might have had better rings from the factory.. Ones valves might need adjusted.. Carbs might not be setup 100% perfect

You could always cut your air box, jet your bike, advance the timing, adjust your valves, and you should be able to beat your friends bike then

I gutted out my airbox. I tried the timing advance mod. It all kind of works, but I just wanted it back to stock and start with the basics of carb tuning. The whole needle thing was kind of shitty when I found that there is only one clip position. Thanks.

I'm not sure what was done to my 01' XR50 before I bought it ,but it has major nuts!! It will easily flip switching from first to second gear if your not careful. And it's almost impossible to keep the front wheel on the ground!!!! I love it!

Re: 06 CRF 50 lack of power.

Figured it out. With the airbox mod, was running way too lean. I swapped the needle for an 04 one and realized the 06 clip is on the 2nd position compared to the 04 needle. Installed the needle 3rd clip postion and swapped in a 60 main jet for the top end now it's like a whole nother 50. Can't wait to try out some circles now. I also bought a new trailbikes revbox to try out. We'll see.
