If you install a stiff rear spring, and the front forks are stock the handling kinda sucks. At least for me, but you can cut a few coils out of the front springs to help soften it up lol

I have never changed mine. I weigh 190+ and still hit jumps and do stoppies. The problem with the springs is that it raises it an inch to two inches. Then it becomes unstable. Its recomended that you change the arms also. Stocks fine for me!

fugi, yer startin to worry me dood. if u know anything about springs whatsoever, common sence and a basic understanding of physics will tell u that cutting a coil makes it stiffer. dont mean to be a dick, just dont want to mislead anyone.

I put on a stiffer rear spring. You dont have to change your swing arm. I launch my bike pretty high. I have bottomed out a few times and I have never bent anything.

I cut my front springs, maybe its just me, but for stoppies the lower height makes me able to roll them out, guess I'm just weird like that.

if you want the best set-up with no wobble in the forks, you need to replace the stock white plastic bushing/guide with aftermarket units.

I just got bronze bushings today. It is supposed to completely eliminate the play. I'll let you know the results after this weekend. I bet it will make stoppies A LOT easier

I jump a lot and weigh 215lbs. I have the aftermarket springs for fat kids. The aftermarket springs actually make the stock plastic guide get trashed real quick because of the increased ride height.(this is because the lower fork tube sticks out more and hence has more leverage). The aftermarket springs also make the lowers more prone to bending. I TWEAKED MINE!!!

Therefore, I got some stainless steel inserts for the stock legs with the bronze bushings(all for $50).... this supposedly makes the lowers stronger than chromoly! Only thing that is gonna break after this upgrade is going to be the lower triple clamp.

Hi all,

Well, I rode with the new inserts installed. All i can say is AWESOME!!!! It makes a HUGE difference. The front end is much more stable and it gives you more confidence.

The kits generally sell for around $60. If a couple of you guys want them, I can probably get the kits for $50.

Only drawback is the increased wieght. I din't even notice the difference riding... BUT, you can definitely feel the weight difference when holding the lowers in your hand. Go figure.. you are going from hollow steel to solid steel!!

Just some dude with a machine shop. He actually primarily makes all sorts of Dental stuff.

He also does small amounts of work for guys in the industry. ...hence the bushings
