its about time for a oil chang and i wanted to know if there is a brand or type of oil i should use instead of the stock stuff

 

rotella 15w40 in stunt bike and 50

 

my 110cc has 0w mobile1 in it......no oil cooler but mine is stock.....ive had it for about 4 years now and it runs like new .....i wouldnt put a high weight oil in it bcuz it will slow it down a little

 

isn't it the point to slow it down. slow wheelies, circles, all done slow. but doesn't matter really

 

i just put honda racing 10w 40 in my 2004 crf50 is that going to be good enough

 

10w40 from the supermarket.

 

Whatever is on sale, 10w-40 or 30.

 

no bought it from a local shop and its honda racing oil 10w40

 

my freind has been puttin 5w30 in his 03 xr50. Is that good? or bad?

 

20W-50 Amsoil 100% Synthetic MOTORCYCLE oil. These bikes only take a quart of oil, if you want your bike to last pony up the extra 2 bucks it will cost you for good oil and do it right.

 

I have been told to ALWAYS us at least a 10w40 (depending on outside temps) MOTORCYCLE oil. please do not use automotive oil in your bike!

 

mine wasnt automotive oil it was oil i bought for my gixxer

 

shell rotella t synthetic is what i use in everything that has an engine.....i have been for a while

 

I have been told not to use synthetic in my bike especially my new one with only 4k on it! i thought that it was better.. ppl keep telling me different things!

 

like i said ive used it in everything for like 2 years now....never had any problems

amsoil cost a hell of a lot more then "$2 extra" I spend $8 on 4 quarts of rotella 15-40..

I heard rotella synthetic is only like 5% synthetic.. Over priced semi synthetic.. But I may be wrong

You shouldn't use synthetic ins a BRAND NEW motor untill its broken in because it doesn't allow the rings to seat properly..
After the rings are seated, its ok to use it.. Actually better to use synthetic in a bike since the tranny chops up dino oil.. But as long as you cahnge the dino oil often, there is no problems.


Tests have shown that many high end automotive oils perform just as good, if not better then many high end motorcycle specific oils..
Mobile 1 synthetic for one, is supposed to perform just as good as motorcycle specific oils I hear..

Motorcycle oil = over priced automotive oil pretty much..





Btw I run 15-40 rotella in everything, my car, my 50, my 150, and my f4i... I change my oil very often... In my car I change it every 1,000-2,000 (since my car is old, it needs all the help it can get)
My 50 gets its oil changed every 2-4 weeks, 150 gets it every 1-2 months, and f4i gets it every 4-10 sessions depending on how much I ride it.
It's cheap, professional top fuel drag race teams use it for break in on their motors before switching to HIGH end **** like amsoil, people run it ALL day HARD in their diesels for HIGH miles, and farmers trust it in there $150,000 tractors... So I trust it in my $3,000 bikes :YEAH
