Rolling Stoppies on a Fiddy???

Those of you that are doing them, how the hell?
Now I'm not asking a "how to" on a stoppie, but controlling the roll? I don't get it, drums are so jerky, any tips? I can pick it up and roll it only as far as the inertia throws the *** of the bike up, but after that, down it goes, or up and over the bars I go again. I almost forked out cheese for top end forks with discs and hydraulic brakes. But I see you other fools rollin them on stock front ends and drums, so I'm stickin it out! Is there some magical thing I'm missing or is it just gonna take forever?

Re: Rolling Stoppies on a Fiddy???

How fast you going? Once you get the bike up where it needs to be slightly let off the brake not much at all though and just feather it out. So once your at the oh **** point where you think your gonna flip just barely let off the brake and feather it. Just practice you'll get it

Re: Rolling Stoppies on a Fiddy???

I can only roll them for about 25 ft. But i go from like the middle of third gear( cause if i do topped out i have a bad habit of flipping them) and then just preload the suspension and shift your weight forward and when u get up to balance point let off the brakes but only a little and then play with the brakes from there. You will get it adventually, You jus thave to throw the bike to balance point quickly.

I still have a stock front end and rolled a stoppie for the first time 2 nights ago...
...but only about half a parking space the few times I did it, which is really useless..

I assume 3rd gear is better for rolling stoppies ?

Re: Rolling Stoppies on a Fiddy???

I'm just learning endos on my 50 now to. Try them at a slower speed at first to get the feel of the *** end coming up so when you flip it won't hurt as bad as it would if you were topping out 3 rd gear.

I think what it is really is *****!!! you wont be able to roll them very far with out a bit of speed. As everyone else said just get er to BP and start to feather the brake.

Heres me learning....

Re: Rolling Stoppies on a Fiddy???

Every time I try and feather the ****, the *** end just drops like a rock.
And yeah Kfos, I'm 6'1" too, tuckin forward really crams your *** in there at that size. And I gotta shitbox chinese 110 too with hydr discs and I can roll them like that too Sparks, its an assload of fun and so smooth too. But I'm determined to learn'em on these drums. I guess its just like Big Stick and Rc32 are sayin, just takes some ***** and practice. Thats a nasty bp, photo btw...nice. I gotta fresh set of pads I'm gonna stick on and change out my levers to some stiffer ones instead of those shitass EMGO's I got.
And Dave, post a vid of you rollin them that far, if not for anything else, to rub it in my face and for some inspiration

Re: Rolling Stoppies on a Fiddy???

Yeah I noticed there isn't too much visible wear on my pads, they're just "glazed" like you said, way smoother than the fresh pair.
