50 gas and stuff

Seeing as I just got my 50, Im not even sure on the gas stuff.
I put regular gas in the tank, but it's not a mix, correct?
Is the little circular thing on the bottom near the foot pegs the oil?
How often do you change it and what kind do you put in?

Re: 50 gas and stuff

obviously not a mix since it's a four stroke. and does any more put better then regular gas in it? i figure its only like 20 cents more and if it really does help keep the engine in good shape why not.

Re: 50 gas and stuff

Its not a mix. Normal unleaded is fine unless you want to use the high-octane stuff.

Yeah I use the high-octane fuel. Its supposed to help clean the engine or whatever. Not too sure how true it is but for the price increase I'd say it does something worth it.

Re: 50 gas and stuff

Regular 87 octane works just as good as anything on a fiddy. Its a fiddy come on. The drain plug is on the bottom of the case on the right side. Dont unscrew the left side because thats the tensioner and a spring will shoot out. If its a used bike change the oil now so you know its been changed and just check it every now and then and change it when it looks old. If its a new bike change it about a month or so after you started riding it. I use hondas Gn4 and im pretty sure thats what most people run. I use about 3/4 quart and it works for me.

Ok looks like I'll give that oil a try. I understand how to get the oil in, but I am not seeing where the drain plug is still. Is it a bolt?

the oil comes out of the big a$$ed bolt on the bottom of the engine

and it holds 1/2 a quart....

As far as archives upon archives of fiddy advice, check out fiddylife.com. they have some FAQ stickied threads that pretty much tell you everything you would wanna know about a fiddy.

Re: 50 gas and stuff

honda recommends 89 or better. says it will detonate with lower octane. I run sunoco 94 in every bike ive ever owned. Never had a problem or a bad batch from them.

Re: 50 gas and stuff

i use whatever gas is laying around. uhh i don't think i've ever changed my oil...i just add whatever is laying around the garage if its low...sometimes i even put in used oil from my truck, there is about 4 diff. viscosity oils in my truck & about 6 diff viscosity oils in my fiddy...i havn't had a problem...yet. i wouldn't suggest doing this at all but i'm poor as hell so i do work with what i got.
