Knock-offs!!!

Okay, i know it isn't much about stunt.
whatever, i wanted to show a few pics about fiddies...

Original XR/CRF50s in Italy
are as rare as a Cadillac Escalade in Piazza Del Popolo,

we mostly have got in touch with the "fiddy world" because of chinese
knock-offs. Later, we got to its roots, and found out
it all started from that unknown ( for us) CRFs.

we got in touch with a few importers/producers,
and that's the result: an official Orion importer
lend us half a dozen pitbikes, and we're still tryin to break'em,

along with another no-brand importer..

Italian Minis ( a very minor importer/producer in northern Italy)
is selling exquisite "semi-knock offs",
wich means they operate like say, Thumpstar or SDG:
Local (Italian) design, local know-how, an remote ( chinese ) manufacturing.
and local quality control though.
They're some of the best you can get whitout an Honda badge on it;
some other Europeans are getting to do the same,
BoxeRacing, Mobster, the french Motovert, OORacing from the UK,
all of them sharing the same Loncin or Lifan or Jialing or Ducar engine;
take a look on them.. they're finally worth a look.

Re: Knock-offs!!!

the 2nd picture of the black 14"/12" orion w/ red wheels is the bike i got... but i have the 10" version with a 125 (1 down, 3 up manual) and its no comparison to a lifan engine... lifans trannys are junk and so are alot of other chinese knock offs.. i've ran them in the past and will speak first hand and be honest about any of them.. yes you do get what you pay for (by all means).. but i've been racing this bike for months and dominating the class even with serveral thousand $ honda's and KLX/DRZ's... maintance, maintance, maintance seems to be a big key in any of the "knock offs" but broke? nope

the one you've seen in the picture, is something that Apollo Vehicles calls
the "Orion 27". that's it, you may haven't noticed the frame:

Actually yours seems based on a more typical frame: a Model 21, i'd say.
For what i've seen, Ducars are the best engines among all the china crap and bling,
no trans problems, breaks, or whatever.
and the Italian Minis one, guess what.. that's a Ducar

Re: Knock-offs!!!

yea we sell that model here at my work too.. the frame on the model 27 seems hollow and appeared weaker... i like the xr/crf50 style frame plus i can still run the 10" class...

Re: Knock-offs!!!

Hahahaha if you can't break an Orion you're not trying very hard.

I know of many that have bent right in half, and the rest of the parts are just as garbage.

They are good for riding like a Grandma, but any jumping or general abuse destroys them.

The flat framed one might be OK, but the ones like that red bull bike are ****. Those pinky/red rear shocks are also complete bullshit...

The ducar motors on the other hand, are ******* awesome, you can't break them!!!

that "flat framed" Model 27 appears to be the weakest among all, instead.
it's the only fiddy in the whole world to have a rear suspension linkage.. useless. and the frame's a weird mix far from being aluminium too... it's something mixing lead and butter..

Whatever, we made somethin out of them:
we're quite useless at MXing, but.. here are some videos:
First one - just kidding around in some backyard -
http://video.google.it/videoplay?doc...83429561&hl=it

And second one.. even more dumb
http://video.google.it/videoplay?doc...33683529&hl=it

Been playing with those toys for an year or so. and they just keep on going. Good fun.

I've never seen the flat framed ones, so know nothing about them...it's the other model Orions I know.

My mate became a re-seller for them, there is a major Orion distributor here he got them from. He stopped after not long because they were all breaking unless being ridden by small kids.

First you notice the front wheel getting further and further away from the engine, then one day you land a jump and the bash plate ends up touching the ground. Or the rear shock flys to bits as has happened.

I have had mine for over a year now, I have refrained from any big jumps which has saved the frame...but the rest of the bike is made up of replacement parts from quality bikes or Hondas because the stock parts broke. I do abuse the bike badly, but still...junk.

As for the Ducar motor...it ******* rocks, it lives on the rev limiter and never gets the oil changed and it still starts first kick in the cold. Very impressive.

Re: Knock-offs!!!

That'd be the '06 Orion Model 29. that isn't much of a pitbike, or a fiddy,
that one's way huger than a stock CRF50. look closely and you'll see
weird similarities among that bike and.. well, the original BBR KLX110 frame.
that's it indeed.. not definitely the same by any means, but
Orion's have made quite a good deal, "getting inspired" by BBR on that one.
