its more of a the trailbikes kit is a cheaper alternative thats still as good of quality. ive never raced a takagawa but i have a tb stage one with stock gearing i love it for stunting but a stock 50 can pass me up top. you can make either faster in the long run or up front with gearing. its whatever you want.

depending on the kit... johnnyp raised some good point sin his reply

but here's the deal

the TB stage 2 is teh basic equivelant to teh takegawa/two bros S-stage kit in those being compared the trailbikes smokes the takegawa simply by being higher compression ratio, bigger cam and bigger carb that comes with the traibikes kits.... same goes for the trailbikes stage 3 ( race head kit) against the takegawa "R" stage kit with race head..

now..when you get into spending big money on parts like the Super head, +R and stuff like that in the big money zone ( high end jap kitaco and takegawa parts)...TB (trailbikes) simply doesn't offer anythign more in the 88cc range that is that high end therefore that's where you get the people saying my takegawa 88 will smoke the trailbiikes bla bla bla.... only steps from there by trailbikes are the 108 and 117 kits..

either way.. trailbikes has great stuff especially for those ona budget and you can be competitive with their parts, but when you've got bottomless pockets the japs have stuff that is superior to anythign TB offers....

That's what i was wondering for comparison how is a TB stage 2(with the bigger cam and carb) vs the two bros/take stage s(stock head still) or kitaco compare?

the TB stock head (stage 2 ) the other stock head kits (s-stage etc..)from the other motors i've done and thether bikes i've ridden with. i wish i had a spare TB cam to take a comparison pic to show how huge the difference is in that alone sompared to teh takegawa... plus the TB has a larger intake and carb along with a ghigher comp piston, so it has more powereverywhere in the rev range...

a stocker can pass me cause of the way im geared. if i changed my gearing i could go faster but i like the way its geared for stunting.

yea this is true...a stock geared 88 will ge walked in top by a stock geared 50 ( even if only by a little) simply because the bigger piston wont let the 88 rev quite as high as the 50cc stock motor will

So would a rev box not be the best idea?

Re: 88cc guy i have questions????

no, a rev box won't do anything for you in the sense of adding higher RPM untill you've moved the clutch off the crank and went to an inner rotor kit...and the inner rotor kit includes it's own CDI anyway. The valves will float and you'll stop maing power well before the stock rev limiter, and like i mentioned before the 88 won't rev as high to begine with simply because of the mass of the piston being more than that of teh original so it takes longer to get moving in each direction on each stroke.

i couldn't believe it a couple years ago when i first got m,y 50 and i went to KC to ride with a group donw there and my 50cc motor was walking past teh big bore boys in the long straights...best thing to do for more top end is to gear it... you don't want to move the clutch or add an inner rotor for stunting as the motors lose taht tractor liek feeling from teh flywheel effect and they are touchier on the throttle

Re: 88cc guy i have questions????

i feel that bore kits are more for bad@ss power and torque rather than top speed, but then agian i trail ride and jump so i havent re-geared my sprokets because i love the torque for ripping through turns and busting fat wheelies
