helpppppppppppppp?
found a guy with a fiddy i like to buy but he says that it does not have a title is this true? the bike is a 2001 xr50 please send a reply quickly this seems to be a fairly stand up guy...
Re: helpppppppppppppp?
My '05 has a serial number on the frame and it comes with a title just like a car title .
A xr model should to . The reason why csimps sano frame doesnt have a title is because it is an aftermarket frame . Made to fit a honda . You should always keep the original frame if you replace it . That way you can show the person that the title matches the bike .
The title proves it is your bike . And should come with one . I believe all hondas do . The honda frame has a plaque near the front with the vin # .
If you buy this bike and it is a stolen bike , and if you ever get stopped buy the cops , they will run the vin # just like a car . You will be charged with stolen property . They will take your bike and you will most likely not get it back .
Even if it is not stolen , or has an aftermarket frame , you still have to prove somehow that it is your bike to the police . A title and vin # proves it is yours and it is registered to you .
If the person doesn't have the title , get the vin # and check it . If it is not stolen , you might be able to register it and get a duplicate title that will have your info on it .
I do not believe honda changes their bikes from state to state . They get shipped to the states with the same frames as any other state . Which is why i believe there should be a title for every bike , for every state .
Also get a receipt (bill of sale) with the persons signature saying he sold it to you .

Re: helpppppppppppppp?
if i was you i would get a bill of sale and not worry about it, if for some reason your scared that its stolen, write the vin# on the bill of sale, the last bike i bought from a dealership was an 04 ktm 450sx, and i didnt get anything with that but a reciept, most people dont keep that little "title" they give you with an off-road vehicle cause it doesnt really do anything, also when i traded in a dirtbike that i had bought brand new, i didnt have it and they didnt question it
Re: helpppppppppppppp?
^^^^ maybe ktm is different .
But honda gives you an ACTUAL real title . Exactly like a car title .
The title gets sent to you thru the mail . From the state . I got mine right away cause i bought my honda with cash .
If you finance it , when you are done paying , they send it to you afterwards . Just like a car loan .
If you buy it off someone used , they should have the title in their hand .
This is a picture of my 98 honda civic car title and my '05 honda crf 50 title . Exactly the same . Something you don't throw away .

at least get a bill of sale wth vin # and witnesses.. you can use that toapply for some sort of proof of ownership, each state is slightly different
Re: helpppppppppppppp?
alot of times too if you buy something from the dealer like a quad or fiddy and put it on a payment plan honda holds onto the title until you pay up in full and even then most times they forget and the owner forgets to ask for it.
