Street legal XR-50???
basically all you would have to do is put headlights, taillights ect,
a mirror a horn. Thats probably it,
but I think a 50cc is to small for street use. I think they have to be over 80 or something, so it wouldn't be worth doing all that.

out of curiousity, why would you want it to be street legal?

Think of the attention you'd get cruising through the city on a bike of that stature. There's not much practical use for it... but it sure would be funny. Just something to do for ***** & giggles (mostly giggles hopefully).
p.s. - Ummmm, yeaaahhh. It's just that, now we're putting cover sheets on all of the TPS reports. So if you could just TRY to remember to do that - that would be great. And I'll go ahead and get you another copy of that memo.

(Phone rings) Peter Gibbons. Yes... I have the memo.
In most states, you need two hundred cc's to become street legal.
But in these states you can register 50ccs. Its called a moped. From what I understand the differnce is the starting mechanism which is a pedal start vs a kickstart. From previous posts, It sounds like it is possible in certain areas, depending on your geographical location.
(that is how to make them legal for younger folk)

In Massachusetts, you can register anything under 50cc as a moped provided it has 2 wheels, and it must be automatic. HOWEVER, they do NOT inspect mopeds. Just say it's an auto and they hand you a moped sticker for a few bucks. You don't even need headlight, tailight, or directionals. They say you must use hand signals and wear a DOT helmet. No insurance is needed and you only need a regular auto driver's permit to ride. I have a XR50 and a pocketbike registered. The po-pos still try to give you hell, but not much they can do about it when you show them the registration.
