Loose front sprocket?
Loose front sprocket?
For about a week now my bike has been making a squeeking sound everytime you accelerate.
I'v adjusted the chain many times thinking thats the problem.
Just now I pushed on the front sprocket through the little gap, and it moves side to side..
Can I take the sprocket cover off without having to replace the oil?

Re: Loose front sprocket?
yes you don't need oil or a gasket. the left side cover is just a cover. there are 3 8mm bolts holding it on. remember that the short one goes at the back!!! don't screw a long bolt in the back and crack your case. clean the engine before opening the cover because crap will fall in and get your flywheel dirty.
the sprocket is held on by locking plate. undo the two small and one large bolt head. spin the locking plate a little so that the splines line up and wriggle it out. the sprocket will come out easily.
but i doubt it would be your front sprocket. it has a bit of lateral play from the factory.

Re: Loose front sprocket?
ya I went and rode it and checked it out a little more
It dosen't have near as much play when its in gear, only when in neutral.
I guess these small things just have alot more play, my big bike has zero play im pretty sure
