Re: question for your people who can do circles

it took me a week or so to get them ...but to perfect them i am still doing that everytime i ride...the biggest thing is brake and throttle control.....make sure you ride the rear brake..harder for tight circles...less for wide circles...and alot of fukin practice.. :YEAH

Re: question for your people who can do circles

i learned doing circles on the shops fiddy by dragging my feet, but without a handbrake. i got to where i could do figure 8's without touching the brake, but like i said, that was with my feet on the axle pegs, or dragging the ground. i used a hell of a lot of body english on the bars, pushing and pulling and whatnot. still trying to get good at them with my feet on the pegs. my knees are in my ears on the pegs. axle pegs aren't too bad though.

first time looked kinda like this:

actually, to get alil more technical, the reason why you turn ur bars the opposite way ur doing the circle, is bc it cuz a sort of counter steer....while your doing this, u just shift your body on to the opposite side of the seat, and it makes for tighter circles....Now, I know some smart **** might say, well how the hell does it counter steer with the front wheel off the ground........well, it puts the bike at a different angel, cuzing the circles to tighten up. It would be alot easier to show, then to explain.

I remember when i started out, and they looked like football field circles, and gradually narrowed down. Now, i would say im about a 5-8ft radius. It takes a while.....how long is a while.....well, just depends how long u practice, and what u do.

hope this helps

Re: question for your people who can do circles

if you turn your bars you will lean in that direction...try to keep the cross bar as level "or straight" as possible....and dont forget practice..practice.... now right handers are a lil different...that comes a lil later..keep riding bro they will come... :YEAH

Re: question for your people who can do circles

i've been at it for a few sessions and i'm really starting to make good progress now. i can do fairly tight 180* turns all the time and have managed to do a few full circles. they are sitdowns and left hand turns. i don't have much success with standing on the back peg yet but i'll get there. i don't have much to contribute but a few points about what's been working for me so far.

i find with the bars that i can get it to lean it quite sharply if i pull "up" on the throttle hand and push "down" on the other hand. i'm not really steering, just exerting up and down force in what would be a vertical direction if the bike were on flat ground - if that makes any sense. it probably doesn't mean much because i'm probably shifting my body weight unknowingly with this action and that might be what is giving me the lean/turn. just experiment and see what works for you. also i try to practice in a fairly tight area which doesn't give me much room for mistakes. i start the circle while riding towards a wall so that i force myself turn or i'm gonna eat it. makes me more committed to it.

Re: question for your people who can do circles

I don't know if this makes sense but I lean into the circle and try to push the seat to the outside of the circle when I'm circling. I guess kinda like turnin the bars opposite. Just keep practicing. Get it so you can go down the street and turn the corner with one wheel in the air. Then turn a little farther next time. Then turn around 180, etc. You'll get it.

Re: question for your people who can do circles

i've owned my fiddy since january, started doind circles a few weeks ago, they are wide as phuc, but i'm on the stock knobbies, still no where near having them on lock.

seems like there are a ton of factors such as, tires and tire pressure, ect to getting to where they are easy to do.

but like i said i'm on knobbies, i'd like to know how good you can actually do on the stock tires, or are street tires a must?????????????????????????/

and i suck, but that my 0.02

Re: question for your people who can do circles

ive been able to do some really tight sitdowns lately....like piviitng no bull ****....tghe only way you can do it is if you lean in the oppisite direction of your turn............and the more you lean that way the tighter it will be......the weird thing is if you lean to much you just end up going to the right cuz your oputting that much force

i've never even ridden on anything other than knobbies, but i have noticed that tire pressure makes a HUGE difference. it's alot easier for me to do tighter circles on low pressure. i figured that out when i got a slow leak, but didn't notice it for a while. the guys at the shop pointed out that i was almost folding the tire over the rim, but it was easier to do it that way.
